‘Rambling Rose’ Digital Soundtrack Album Released
Virgin Records has released a digital version of the soundtrack album for the 1991 drama Rambling Rose directed by Martha Coolidge and starring Laura Dern, Robert Duvall, Diane Ladd, Lukas Haas and John Heard. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award winner Elmer Bernstein (The Magnificent Seven, To Kill a Mockingbird, Far from Heaven, Airplane, Ghostbusters, The Age of Innocence). Also included is Louis Armstrong’s Dixie and Ruth Etting’s If I Could Be With You One Hour Tonight. ‘The Boy & the Heron Symphonic Suite for Piano and Orchestra Album’ Announced
Deutsche Grammphon has announced the release of The Boy & the Heron: Symphonic Suite for Piano and Orchestra, a concert adaptation of the score for Hayao Miyazaki’s Academy Award-winning 2023 animated feature The Boy and the Heron composed by Joe Hisaishi (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, My Neighbor Totoro, Howl’s Moving Castle). The fourteen-piece suite offers Hisaishi’s personal interpretation of the film, following Mahito’s emotional journey through grief, memory, and imagination, balancing intimate piano writing with rich orchestral textures. The music was recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. The album will be released digitally and physically on November 6. Christopher Young to Score Christian Kang Bachini’s ‘Haunting Skies’
Christopher Young (Hellraiser, Spider-Man 3, Sinister, Drag Me to Hell, The Hurricane, Ghost Rider, The Shipping News, The Exorcism of Emily Rose) is attached to score the upcoming feature adaptation of the indie horror novel Haunting Skies. The film is directed by the book’s author Christian Kang Bachini and will star Natasha Halevi and Emily Ashby. The movie imagines an Earth already conquered by alien invaders who abduct the remaining survivors for grotesque experiments, including a young girl possessed by Satan, and follows the last surviving exorcist as he devises a plan to get her aboard the alien mothership and make a deal with the Devil to turn Hell against the invaders.
Richard Reed Parry’s Sea Shanty ‘Last Man’ from ‘Widow’s Bay’ Released
Milan Records has released the original sea shanty from the seventh episode (entitled Seasickness) of the Apple TV original series Widow’s Bay. Available to stream/download on all major digital music services is The Last Man co-written (with Neil Casey who provided the lyrics) and performed by Arcade Fire’s Richard Reed Parry.
