Netflix announced this week that Raffertie (The Substance, The Continental: From the World of John Wick,, Zone 414, White Dragon, One Way, Dragonfly, Bull) is the composer of the streamer’s upcoming original documentary series Tyson. The show is directed by Floyd Russ (American Manhunt: The Boston Marathon Bombing & O.J. Simpson) and explores the explosive life of Mike Tyson – one of the most feared and fascinating figures in sports history. The 4-parter centers on his chaotic upbringing in Brooklyn and traces his meteoric rise as the youngest heavyweight champion ever. Russ is also executive producing the project with sports commentator Jim Gray, Ian Orefice (The Mars Generation), Amanda Spain (Our Father, Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model), Jonna McLaughlin (Untold: The Fall of Favre), Greg C. Lake & Michael Hughes (Lance), Douglas Banker (The After Party, Enigma) and sports podcaster/writer Bill Simmons. Tyson will premiere on October 14 exclusively on Netflix.
Raffertie’s other recent projects include Paul Andrew Williams’ Faith starring Erin Doherty & James McAvoy (co-scored with NYX), which just premiered at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival. He also has composed the score for James McAvoy’s feature directorial debut California Schemin’, which opened in UK theaters earlier this year and will be released in select U.S. theaters on October 9 by Magenta Light Studios.
