Also premiering today is the HBO documentary Tiger directed by Matthew Heineman & Matthew Hamachek about the rise, fall, and epic comeback of global icon Tiger Woods. H. Premiering in the U.S. on Tuesday, January 12, is the Canadian series Trickster created by Michelle Latimer & Tony Elliott based on Eden Robinson’s novel Son of a Trickster and starring Joel Oulette, Crystle Lightning, Craig Lauzon, Anna Lambe, Kalani Queypo, Joel Thomas Hynes, Gail Maurice and Georgina Lightning. The show’s original music is composed by Todor Kobakov (The Samaritan, Born to Be Blue, Backstabbing for Beginners, Most Dangerous Game, Bitten). A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score was released last fall when the drama premiered in Canada on CBS. Premiering on Wednesday, January 13, is the Netflix docu-series Night Stalker: The Hunt for a Serial Killer directed by Tiller Russell and executive produced by Tim Walsh, Eli Holzman & Aaron Saidman about one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. Brooke Blair & Will Blair (Green Room, Hold the Dark, The Silencing, I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore, Blue Ruin) have composed the show’s original music. Premiering on Thursday, January 14, is the HBO Max original film Locked Down directed by Doug Liman and starring Anne Hathaway, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Ben Stiller, Lucy Boynton, Stephen Merchant, Ben Kingsley, Mindy Kaling and Dule Hill. The movie’s original music is composed by John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon, Happy Feet, Solo: A Star Wars Story, X-Men: The Last Stand, Shrek, Bolt). Also premiering on Friday is the Hulu original film The Ultimate Playlist of Noise directed by Bennett Lasseter and starring Keean Johnson and Madeline Brewer. The film’s original score is composed by Erick Schroder (Under the Stadium Lights, Astro, American Christmas, Chasing Nightmares). A soundtrack album will be announced soon. The comedy drama follows an audio obsessed high school senior who learns he must undergo brain surgery that will render him deaf and decides to seize control of his fate by recording the Ultimate Playlist of Noise – a bucket list of all his favorite sounds. The movie will be available to stream exclusively on Hulu.
Missing from last week’s TV music roundup was the new Fox comedy Call Me Kat developed by Darlene Hunt based on the British series of the same title created by Miranda Hart and starring Mayim Bialik, Swoosie Kurtz, Leslie Jordan, Cheyenne Jackson, Kyla Pratt and Julian Gant. Anna Waronker (Shrill, Opposite Sex) is composing the show’s original music.
