Opening in theaters nationwide is the post-apocalyptic horror sequel 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple directed by Nia DaCosta and starring Ralph Fiennes, Jack O’Connell, Alfie Williams, Erin Kellyman and Chi Lewis-Parry. The film’s original music is composed by Hildur GuÄ‘nadóttir (Joker, Chernobyl, Tar, A Haunting in Venice, Women Talking, The Bride!, Hedda, Sicario: Day of the Soldado). Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Also opening wide is the animated feature Charlie the Wonderdog co-written and directed by Shea Wageman and starring Owen Wilson, Tabitha St. Germain, Dawson Littman, Elishia Perosa, Ruairi MacDonald and Zac Bennett-McPhee. Petteri Sainio (Rocket Club, Faithful Planet) has composed the film’s original score and Bryan Adams has written the movie’s original songs. Bad Records has released a soundtrack album featuring score, as well as a separate EP featuring Adams’ songs today. Opening semi-wide in around 800 theaters is the Japanese anime feature All You Need Is Kill directed by Kenichiro Akimoto and starring Natsuki Hanae, Ai Mikami, Kana Hanazawa and Hiccorohee. The film’s original music is composed by Yasuhiro Maeda (Fullmetal Alchemist: The Revenge of Scar & Final Transmutation). Opening in select U.S. theaters this weekend is the French psychological thriller A Private Life (Vie privée) co-written and directed by Rebecca Zlotowski and starring Jodie Foster, Daniel Auteuil, Mathieu Amalric, Virginie Efira, Luana Bajrami and Vincent Lacoste. Rob (aka Robin Coudert) (Revenge, Maniac, Never Let Go, Gretel & Hansel, Amityville: The Awakening, Other People’s Children, Horns, Planetarium, Troy: Fall of a City) has composed the film’s original music. Hippocampus has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last November when the movie opened in France. Also opening in select U.S. theaters is the German drama Sound of Falling (In die Sonne schauen) co-written and directed by Mascha Schilinski and starring Hanna Heckt, Susanne Wuest, Luise Heyer, Lena Urzendowsky, Filip Schnack, Laeni Geisler, Greta Krämer, Luzia Oppermann, Gode Benedix, Claudia Geisler-Bading and Ninel Geiger. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Fiedler and Eike Hosenfeld (Max und die Wilde 7). No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which has recently been shortlisted in the International Feature category for this year’s Academy Awards, premiered at last year’s Cannes Film Festival and is being distributed in the U.S. by MUBI following a release in Germany last summer.

Opening in New York this weekend before expanding to more markets in the coming weeks is the documentary Seeds produced and directed by Brittany Shyne. Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe (Candyman, Power, Union, Master, Telemarketers, The Man in My Basement, Grasshopper Republic) has composed the film’s original music. No soundtrack album has been announced yet. The movie, which interviews the stories of three Black generational farmers to create a collective and intimate portrait of farming today has recently been shortlisted in the Documentary Feature category for this year’s Academy Awards, premiered at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, where it received the Grand Jury Prize for U.S. Documentary.

Opening in select U.S. theaters and on VOD today is the Australian horror thriller Killer Whale co-written and directed by Jo-Anne Brechin and starring Virginia Gardner, Mel Jarnson and Mitchell Hope. The film’s original music is composed by Angela Little (Never Too Late, Take My Hand, Streamline, The Clinic, Dive Club, Swimming for Gold, Back of the Net). No soundtrack album has been released.
