Opening in theaters nationwide this weekend is the biographical drama Elvis directed by Baz Luhrmann and starring Austin Butler, Tom Hanks, Olivia DeJonge, Richard Roxburgh, Luke Bracey, Kelvin Harrison Jr. and David Wenham. The film’s original score is composed by Elliott Wheeler (The Get Down, Every Day) who also serves as the project’s executive music producer. RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie, including classic tracks by Elvis Presley, as well new tracks by Doja Cat, Swae Lee & Diplo, Eminem & CeeLo Green & others. Also opening wide is the supernatural horror thriller The Black Phone directed by Scott Derrickson and starring Mason Thames, Jeremy Davies, Madeleine McGraw, James Ransone and Ethan Hawke. Mark Korven (The Witch, Cube, The Lighthouse, The Terror: Infamy, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, Them) has composed the film’s original music. Opening in select cities today before expanding nationwide in July is the live-action/animated comedy Marcel the Shell with Shoes On directed by Dean Fleischer-Camp and starring Jenny Slate, Isabella Rossellini, Thomas Mann, Rosa Salazar and Lesley Stahl. The film’s original music is composed by Disasterpeace (It Follows, Under the Silver Lake, Triple Frontier). Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. Opening in select theaters today before premiering on Netflix on July 8 is the animated feature The Sea Beast directed by Chris Williams and starring Karl Urban, Zaris-Angel Hator, Jared Harris, Marianne Jean-Baptiste and Dan Stevens. Mark Mancina (Twister, Bad Boys, SpeedTarzan, Brother Bear, August RushTraining Day) has composed the movie’s original music. Opening in select U.S. theaters today is the Swiss/French drama Olga co-written and directed by Elie Grappe and starring Anastasia Budiashkina, Sabrina Rubtsova, Caterina Barloggio, Théa Brogli, Jérôme Martin and Alicia Onomor. The film’s original music is composed by Pierre Desprats (Perfect Nanny, Rouge, The Wild Boys). Cinéma Defacto & Point Prod have released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this year. Opening in select theaters and on VOD today is the romantic comedy drama Press Play co-written and directed by Greg Björkman and starring Clara Rugaard, Lewis Pullman, Christina Chang, Lyrica Okano, Matt Walsh and Danny Glover. Eldad Guetta (The Wave) has composed the film’s original music. No word on a soundtrack release. The movie, which follows a woman who is given the chance to save her boyfriend after he dies in an accident when she discovers that their mixtape can transport her back in time, is being released by The Avenue.

Already playing at New York’s Paris Theatre since this past Wednesday before premiering on Netflix on July 29 is the drama Beauty directed by Andrew Dosunmu and starring Niecy Nash, Gracie Marie Bradley, Aleyse Shannon, Giancarlo Esposito, Micheal Ward, Kyle Bary, Sharon Stone and Sarah Stavrou.
