Premiering in the U.S. tonight is the British mini-series Us adapted by David Nicholls from his novel of the same title, directed by Geoffrey Sax and starring Tom Hollander, Saskia Reeves, Tom Taylor, Sofie Gråbøl, Iain De Caestecker and Thaddea Graham. Oli Julian (Catastrophe, Sex Education, How to Build a Girl, Code 404, Episodes, Plebs) has composed the show’s original music. Manners McDade has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last year when the comedy drama premiered in the UK on BBC One. Premiering on Wednesday, June 23 is the comedy Good on Paper directed by Kimmy Gatewood and starring Iliza Shlesinger (who also wrote the screenplay), Ryan Hansen, Margaret Cho, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Matt McGorry, Tyler Cameron, Taylor Hill, Kimia Behpoornia, Rebecca Delgado Smith and Beth Dover. The film’s original music is composed by Jonathan Sanford (Teenage Bounty Hunters, Dare Me, Social Distance, Welcome Matt). The movie, which follows a stand-up comic who – after years of putting her career first – meets a guy who seems perfect and possibly too good to be true, will be available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
Premiering on Friday, June 25, is the action thriller The Ice Road directed by Jonathan Hensleigh and starring Liam Neeson, Laurence Fishburne, Ray McKinnon, Benjamin Walker Amber Midthunder and Marcus Thomas. Max Aruj (Crawl, iBoy, Lansky, The Abandoned, Me You Madness) has composed the film’s original score. Music.Film Recordings & Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score on Friday (click here for the full album details) and Big Machine Records will release a separate soundtrack featuring songs from and inspired by the movie on the same day (click here for more information).
Also premiering on Friday is the Disney+ original series The Mysterious Benedict Society developed by Matt Manfredi & Phil Hay based on the book series by Trenton Lee Stewart and starring Tony Hale, Kristen Schaal, Ryan Hurst, MaameYaa Boafo, Mystic Inscho, Seth B. Carr and Marta Kessler. The show’s original music composed by Theodore Shapiro (The Devil Wears Prada, Tropic Thunder, Marley & Me, Ghostbusters, Bombshell, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty) & Joseph Shirley (Bad Trip, The Open House). Another movie premiering on Friday is the documentary Wolfgang directed and produced by David Gelb about Wolfgang Puck, one of the first “celebrity chefs” to rule the scene and a pioneer in the world of California cuisine. Blige’s My Life directed by Vanessa Roth about the singer, rapper and actress who set the music world on fire with her trailblazing 1994 LP My Life. The film’s original score is composed by Mervyn Warren (The Wedding Planner, A Walk to Remember, Joyful Noise, Honey). The movie, which features Blige revealing the demons and blessings that inspired the record and propelled her to international stardom, will be available to stream exclusively on Amazon Prime.
