Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the action thriller sequel The Equalizer 2 directed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Denzel Washington, Pedro Pascal, Ashton Sanders, Bill Pullman and Melissa Leo. Harry Gregson-Williams (The MartianThe Chronicles of NarniaShrekUnstoppableMan on Fire) who previously scored the 2014 original movie has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide is the movie musical Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again directed by Ol Parker and starring Lily James, Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth, Stellan Skarsgård, Julie Walters, Dominic Cooper, Amanda Seyfried, Christine Barankski, Jeremy Irvine, Jessica Keenan Wynn Andy Garcia and Cher. The film’s original score is composed by Anne Dudley (The Full Monty, American History X). Polydor Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the movie. Also opening nationwide is the thriller Unfriended: Dark Web written and directed by Stephen Susco and starring Colin Woodell, Betty Gabriel, Rebecca Rittenhouse, Andrew Lees, Connor del Rio, Stephanie Nogueras and Savira Windyani. The movie doesn’t feature an original score. The film follows a 20-something who finds a cache of hidden files on his new laptop and, along with his friends, unwittingly thrust into the depths of the dark web. Opening in limited release before expanding nationwide over the next couple of weeks is the comedy drama Blindspotting directed by Carlos López Estrada and starring Daveed Diggs, Rafael Casal, Janina Gavankar, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Ethan Embry, Tisha Campbell-Martin, Utkarsh Ambudkar and Wayne Knight. The film’s original score is composed by Michael Yezerski (The Devil’s Candy, Mental, Drift, The Little Death). Republic Records has released a soundtrack EP featuring Digg’s and Casal’s songs from the movie and a second EP is set to be released next week. Check out our previous article for more information.

Also opening in limited release is the documentary McQueen directed by Ian Bonhôte & Peter Ettedgui about celebrated and controversial fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Michael Nyman (The PianoGattacaThe End of the AffairRavenous) has composed the film’s original music. Also opening in select theaters is the documentary Generation Wealth directed by Lauren Greenfield about the pathologies that have created the richest society the world has ever seen. The film’s original music is composed by Jeff Beal (House of Cards, Monk, Rome, Carnivale, Appaloosa, Pollock). No soundtrack album has been announced. The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and is being released by Amazon Studios. Visit the official movie website for more information.

Also opening in select U.S. cities is the British spy thriller Damascus Cover co-written and directed by Daniel Zelik Berk and starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Olivia Thirlby and John Hurt. Harry Escott (Shame, Hard Candy, Harry BrownWelcome to the Punch, Dark River) has composed the film’s original music. No word yet on a soundtrack release. Another limited release this week is the documentary King Cohen directed by Steve Mitchell about writer, producer, director and creator Larry Cohen. The film’s original music is composed by Joe Kraemer (Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Jack Reacher, The Way of the Gun). No soundtrack album has been released. Also opening in limited release is the documentary Far from the Tree directed by Rachel Dretzin about experiences of families in which parents and children are profoundly different from one another a variety of ways. Nico Muhly (The Reader, Margaret, Howards End, Kill Your Darlings) and the indie rock band Yo La Tengo have composed the film’s original music. No word yet on a soundtrack release.
