Universal Music has released a soundtrack album for the NBC drama Aquarius. The album features the songs from the show by artists including The Who, Charles Manson, Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, Wayne Newton, Dyke and the Blazers & more. Also included is a track from the series’ original score composed by W.G. Snuffy Walden (The West Wing, Friday Night Lights, Under the Dome). The soundtrack is now available on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Aquarius is created by John McNamara and stars David Duchovny, Gethin Anthony, Grey Damon, Emma Dumont and Claire Holt. The event series takes place in the 1960s and follows a cop who goes undercover to track Charles Manson and the Manson Family before their infamous murder spree.

Weekly TV Music Roundup (May 24, 2015)
Premiering tomorrow, May 25, is the History mini-series Texas Rising directed by Roland Joffe and starring Bill Paxton, Brendan Fraser, Ray Liotta, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Olivier Martinez, Thomas Jane, Crispin Glover and Jeremy Davies. The show’s original music is composed by John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Elf, Iron Man 2) and Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Tombstone). Universal Music Group Nashville has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as the original song Take Me To Texas written by Shane McAnally and Brandy Clark, as well as a cover version of Tom Petty’s I Won’t Back Down performed by Kris Kristofferson and the original piece Igual Que Yo performed by guitarist José Feliciano earlier this week. Also making its U.S. premiere on Memorial Day is the drama Grace of Monaco directed by Olivier Dahan and starring Nicole Kidman, Tim Roth, Frank Langella, Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Derek Jacobi and Milo Ventimiglia. Christopher Gunning (La Vie En Rose) has composed the film’s original score and Guillaume Roussel (3 Days to Kill) has contributed additional music. Hamburger Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ music, as well as classical pieces by Erik Satie, Jean Sibelius and more last year. W.G. Snuffy Walden to Score NBC’s ‘Aquarius’
W.G. Snuffy Walden has signed on to score the upcoming NBC event series Aquarius. The show is created by John McNamara (Prime Suspect, Fastlane) and stars David Duchovny, Gethin Anthony, Grey Damon, Emma Dumont and Claire Holt. The series is set in the 1960s and follows a cop who goes undercover to track Charles Manson and the Manson Family before their infamous murder spree. McNamara is also executive producing the ITV Studios America production with Marty Adelstein (Prison Break, Last Man Standing, Tru Calling), Duchovny and Melanie Greene (Californication).

As no new major scripted TV shows or movies are premiering this week, we are taking a look at a number of shows with new composers this season.
W.G. Snuffy Walden (Friday Night Lights, The West Wing, Under the Dome) has taken over scoring duties this season on ABC’s drama Nashville created by Callie Khouri and starring Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Jonathan Jackson, Clare Bowen, Powers Boothe and Sam Palladio. The show’s first season was scored by T Bone Burnett and Keefus Ciancia. Buddy Miller has replaced Burnett as the show’s executive music producer. Premiering tonight is the new Lifetime drama Devious Maids created by Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives) and starring Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez, Edy Ganem, Judy Reyes, Brett Cullen, Brianna Brown, Drew Van Acker and Susan Lucci. The show’s score is composed by Edward Shearmur (The Count of Monte Cristo, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow). The drama follows five maids with ambition and dreams of their own while working for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Devious Maids will air every Sunday night on Lifetime. W.G. Snuffy Walden Scoring CBS’ Stephen King Adaptation ‘Under the Dome’
W.G. Snuggy Walden is currently scoring the CBS summer series Under the Dome. The show is an adaptation of Stephen King’s bestselling novel and is produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment and DreamWorks Television. The limited 13-episodes series is set in Chester’s Mill, a small New England town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome. The show’s cast includes Mike Vogel, Rachelle Lefevre, Colin Ford, Natalie Martinez, Alexander Koch, Britt Robertson, Nicholas Strong, Jolene Purdy, Aisha Hinds and Dean Norris. Spielberg is executive producing the project with King, Neil Baer (ER, A Gifted Man), Brian K. Vaughan (Lost), DreamWorks’ co-chairman Stacey Sneider, Justin Falvey & Darryl Frank (Falling Skies, The Americans).
Fall 2011 Television Music Roundup (Part 3): CBS
In our third part of our roundup of this fall’s television music, we are taking a look at the new and returning shows on CBS:
Among the network’s new shows is the drama Person of Interest created by Jonathan Nolan (brother of Christopher Nolan) and starring Michael Emerson, Jim Caviezel, Taraji B. Henson and Kevin Chapman. The score for the show is composed by Ramin Djawadi (Iron Man, Game of Thrones). The show produced by J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, Greg Plageman and David Semel centers on a presumed dead former-CIA agent who teams up with a mysterious billionaire to prevent violent crimes by using their own brand of vigilante justice. Person of Interest has already received a full season order and the show airs every Thursday night on CBS.
W.G. Snuffy Walden to Score ‘A Gifted Man’
W.G. Snuffy Walden has been hired to score the upcoming CBS drama A Gifted Man. The show is created by Academy Award-nominated screenwriter Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich, The Soloist) and stars Patrick Wilson as a well-known surgeon begins seeing his dead ex-wife he starts questioning the meaning of life and his place in the world. Jennifer Ehle, Julie Benz, Liam Aiken and Margo Martindale are co-starring. Carl Beverly and Neal Baer (ER) are executive producing the drama alongside Grant. Jonathan Demme (The Silence of the Lambs) directed the pilot. A Gifted Man is set to premiere on September 23, 2011 and will be airing on CBS every Friday night.
W.G. Snuffy Walden Scoring Pilots for ‘Hail Mary’ and ‘Good Christian Belles’
W.G. Snuffy Walden has recently scored a couple of new pilots for the upcoming TV season. The crime drama Hail Mary centers on a suburban single mom living in Atlanta who teams up with a hustler to solve crimes. The pilot stars Minnie Driver, Brandon T. Jackson, Stephen Tobolowsky and Enrique Murciano. The project is created by Jeff Wadlow (Cry Wolf, Never Back Down) and the pilot is directed by Brad Silberling (Casper, Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events). Joel Silver and Ilene Chaiken serve as executive producers on the project. CBS is expected to announce next week if the show gets picked up.
