Royal Albert Hall will host the UK premiere of Star Trek Into Darkness – Live in Concert featuring the performance of Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino‘s original score for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness performed live to projection. The music will be performed by the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra and Chorus under the baton of Ludwig Wicki. Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the sci-fi sequel Star Trek Into Darkness. The album features the film’s original score composed by Michael Giacchino. The soundtrack will be released physically on May 28, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A digital release is expected the week of the film’s opening in the U.S. Audio clips are available after the jump. Star Trek Into Darkness is directed by J.J. Abrams and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Benedict Cumberbatch and Peter Weller. The movie follows the Enterprise crew as they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization that has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for. ‘Star Trek: Deep Space Nine’ Soundtrack Details
La-La Land Records has announced the details of the new soundtrack release for the sci-fi series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine. The 4-CD set features selections from all seven original seasons of the show. The first disc includes music of composer Dennis McCarthy (Star Trek: Generations); the second disc features the music of composer Jay Chattaway; composers featured on the fourth disc include John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2), David Bell, Richard Bellis, Gregory Smith and Paul Baillargeon and the fourth disc entitled The Lost Album contains an album assembly of material that was prepped by music producers and the composers for a soundtrack compilation that was never released. The Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Collection is limited to 3000 copies and is now available for pre-order on La-La Land’s website, where you can also check out audio clips.
Live to Projection Concerts of Michael Giacchino’s ‘Star Trek’ Score Announced
The 21st Century Symphony Orchestra has announced a concert featuring the world premiere performance of Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino‘s original score for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek performed live to projection. The orchestra has collaborated with Giacchino and Paramount Pictures to arrange the score from the 2009 hit sci-fi film for a concert version performed live to picture. The music will be performed by the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra and the 21st Century Choir under the baton of Ludwig Wicki. Giacchino is expected to attend the concerts in person. The concerts will be held on three consecutive nights on April 12, 13 and 14, 2013 at the KKL Luzern Concert Hall in Lucerne, Switzerland. The orchestra and Wicki have previously worked together with composer Howard Shore for live to projection concerts of the scores for The Lord of the Rings trilogy, which world premiered in Lucerne back in 2008, 2009 and 2010.
Complete ‘Star Trek: Generations’ Soundtrack Announced
GNP Crescendo has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for Star Trek: Generations. The music is composed by Dennis McCarthy (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, The Next Generation and Voyager). The 2-CD set features the complete film score on disc one (including music for one scene deleted from the finished film), and a remastered version of the 1994 soundtrack album on the second disc. Star Trek: Generations directed by David Carson is the seventh feature film in the series and stars Patrick Stewart, Jonathan Frakes, Brent Spiner, William Shatner and Malcolm McDowell.
‘Star Trek: The Original Series’ Soundtrack Collection Announced
La-La Land Records has announced a new limited edition box set of music from the sci-fi TV show Star Trek: The Original Series. The 15-CD box set features all episode scores as heard in all three original seasons of the original Star Trek series (1966-1969). The show’s music is composed by Alexander Courage, George Duning, Jerry Fielding, Gerald Fried, Sol Kaplan, Samuel Matlovsky and Joseph Mullendore. In addition to the the complete scores featured in the series (including hours of previously unreleased material), the soundtrack collection also includes music that didn’t make the final cut. ‘Star Trek: The Motion Picture’ Deluxe Soundtrack Edition Released
This past Tuesday, La-La Land Records has released a 3-CD deluxe edition of Jerry Goldsmith‘s classic score for 1979’s Star Trek: The Motion Picture. The album presents the score for the original theatrical release and also premieres the early “rejected” cues that Goldsmith recorded prior to composing his famous main theme. Also included is the 1979 album program, as well as additional alternates and bonus tracks. The soundtrack is limited to 10,000 copies. Goldsmith’s score for the film directed by Robert Wise and starring Leonard Nimoy, William Shatner, DeForest Kelley and James Doohan received an Academy Award nomination.
Complete ‘Star Trek: First Contact’ Soundtrack Announced
GNP Crescendo Records has announced a new soundtrack edition for the 1996 sci-fi film Star Trek: First Contact. The album features the complete score from the film composed by Jerry Goldsmith (with additional music by Joel Goldsmith), including almost 35 minutes of previously unreleased music.
