Milan Records has announced a soundtrack album for the documentary Last Call at the Oasis. The album features the original score from the movie written by Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Beal (Appaloosa, Rome, Carnivale). The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 1, 2012 and also as an on-demand CD-R on Amazon. Check out the film’s opening sequence featuring Beal’s music after the jump. ‘Girl in Progress’ Soundtrack & Score Album Announced
Artists’ Addiction Records will be releasing both the score and a soundtrack album for the upcoming comedy drama Girl in Progress. The score album features the original music from the film composed by Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Hop). The album will be released digitally on May 8, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from the score can be checked out below. Also scheduled to be released on the same day is a separate soundtrack featuring the film’s songs by artists including Eydie Gorme y Los Panchos, Espinoza Paz, Queen Sea Big Shark and Beth Thornley. The movie centers on a teenage girl dissatisfied with her life who tries to enter adulthood, but succeeds only in creating one crisis after another.
‘The Pirates! Band of Misfits’ Soundtrack Details
Madison Gate Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for Aardman Animation’s and Sony Pictures Animation’s 3D stop-motion animated feature The Pirates! Band of Misfits. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Theodore Shapiro (Tropic Thunder, The Devil Wears Prada) who makes his animated feature scoring debut on the film. The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 24, 2012. UPDATE (June 2012): The album has also been released as an on demand CD-R on Amazon. Band of Misfits is directed by Peter Lord (Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run) & Jeff Newitt and features the voice talent of Hugh Grant, Salma Hayek, Jeremy Piven, Imelda Staunton and David Tennant. The film has been released in the UK under title The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists and will be arriving in domestic theaters on April 27.
Thomas Newman’s ‘Whispers in the Dark’ Score Released
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere soundtrack release for Paramount Pictures’ 1992 thriller Whispers in the Dark directed by Christopher Crowe and starring Annabella Sciorra, Alan Alda, Jill Clayburgh. Newman originally edited half hour of highlights for a planned but never-released album. Intrada’s release features the complete score from original digital session masters.
‘Farewell, My Queen’ Soundtrack Released
Quartet Records has released a compilation album comprising all the three films scored by Academy Award-nominated composer Bruno Coulais for film director Benoît Jacquot. The album includes the original score for the period drama Farewell, My Queen (Les adieux à la reine), which was recorded with a full symphony orchestra at Air Studios in London. Also featured on the release are selections of Coulais’ music for the 2009 film Villa Amalia starring Isabelle Huppert and the 2010 period drama Au fond des bois. Farewell, My Queen starring Diane Kruger, Lea Seydoux and Virginie Ledoyen is based on the novel of the same name by Chantal Thomas and is set during the first 3 days of the French Revolution, as seen from the perspective of the Private reader of Marie Antoinette at Versailles.
‘Detachment’ Soundtrack Released
A soundtrack album has been released for the indie drama Detachment. The album includes the original score from the film written by The Newton Brothers. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Detachment is directed by Tony Kaye (American History X) and stars Adrien Brody, Christina Hendricks, James Caan, Lucy Lio, Bryan Cranston, Blythe Danner, Marcia Gay Harden and Tim Blake Nelson. The movie depicting three weeks in the lives of high school teachers, administrators and students through the eyes of substitute teacher premiered at last year’s Tribeca Film Festival and is now playing in limited release.

Three new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the comedy The Three Stooges directed by Bobby and Peter Farrelly and starring Chris Diamantopolous, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso in the title roles, alongside Sofia Vergara, Jane Lynch, Larry David, Jennifer Hudson, Craig Bierko and Carly Craig. John Debney has composed the film’s original score. Also opening wide is the horror thriller The Cabin in the Woods written by Joss Whedon, directed by Drew Goddard and starring Kristen Connolly, Chris Hemsworth, Anna Hutchison, Richard Jenkins and Bradley Whitford. The film’s music is written by David Julyan (Memento, The Prestige). Varese Sarabande has announced a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, which is set for a release on CD on May 1, 2012. Sony Masterworks to Release Soundtracks for ‘Prometheus’ and ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter’
Sony Masterworks will be releasing the official soundtrack albums for two of the major summer films by 20th Century Fox. First up is the soundtrack for Ridley Scott’s sci-fi horror thriller Prometheus. The album features the original music from the film by Marc Streitenfeld (American Gangster, Robin Hood). More details are expected to be announced within the next couple of weeks. The soundtrack is scheduled for a release on June 5, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Prometheus stars Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Ben Foster and will be released on June 8.
‘The Trouble With Bliss’ Soundtrack Released
Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album for the comedy drama The Trouble With Bliss. The album features the score from the film composed by Daniel Alcheh, as well four original songs performed by Greek artists Sofia Papazoglou, Vasilis Lekkas and Pantelis Thalassinos, with lyrics by songwriter Maria Papadaki. The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. Audio clips are available after the jump. The Trouble With Bliss adapted from the critically acclaimed novel East Fifth Bliss by Douglas Light is directed by Michael Knowles and stars Michael C. Hall, Lucy Liu, Peter Fonda, Brie Larson, Chris Messina and Brad William Henke. The film is now playing in select theaters and also available on iTunes and Video On Demand.
‘Once Upon a Time’ Soundtrack Announced
Intrada Records has announced a soundtrack album for the ABC hit drama Once Upon a Time. The album features over an hour of the original score from the series by composer Mark Isham, including a 4-minute orchestral suite. The soundtrack will be released on May 1, 2012 and can be pre-ordered at Intrada’s online store. ABC Studios has previously released a digital-only four-track EP of Isham’s music from the show. Once Upon a Time created by Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz and starring Jennifer Morrison, Ginnifer Goodwin, Robert Carlyle, Lana Parrilla, Josh Dallas, Jamie Dornan and Jared Gilmore is ABC’s most successful new drama of the current TV season. The final episodes of the first season currently air on Sunday nights on ABC.
