Music Box Records has released a digital single featuring the songs from the documentary Orwell: 2 + 2 = 5. The 2-track single includes Goutte de miel & What Do You Prefer? written by the film’s composer Alexei Aigui (The Truth, I Am Not Your Negro, Wild Field, The Young Karl Marx, Exterminate All the Brutes) and performed by Mina Agossi and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music services, including Amazon. Also listen to both songs after the jump. Lakeshore Records has previously released a full album featuring Agui’s score from the movie. Music Box Records has also announced announced a limited CD version featuring both score and songs, as well as the composer’s recent scores for Pascal Bonitzer’s Maigret and the Dead Lover & Hugo (Victor comme tout le monde) (visit the label’s official website for more details).

‘Ernest Cole: Lost & Found’ Soundtrack Album Announced
Music Box Records has announced a soundtrack album for the documentary Ernest Cole: Lost & Found. The album features the film’s original music composed by Alexei Aigui (I Am Not Your Negro, The Young Karl Marx, Exterminate All the Brutes, Wild Field, The Truth, Silver Dollar Road). Also included are the composer’s scores from Peck’s Murder in Pacot and Moloch Tropical (with some previously unreleased tracks). The CD is now available to order on the label’s official website, where you can also learn more about the release. A first track (Harlem) from Aigui’s Ernest Cole score has already been released as a digital single last month and can be checked out below and a digital version of the album will be coming out this Friday, June 6 (visit Amazon to stream/download). Ernest Cole: Lost & Found is directed by Raoul Peck, narrated by LaKeith Stanfield and chronicles the life of Ernest Cole whose photographs of apartheid-era South Africa and the U.S. in the 1960’s revealed countries vastly different, yet eerily similar.

Amazon Content Services has released the original song Wounded Heart from the Amazon original documentary Silver Dollar Road. The track is written and performed by Kenyan singer/songwriter Ondara and is now available to stream/download on Amazon and any other major digital music services. Also listen to the full song. Silver Dollar Road directed by Raoul Peck is based on the 2019 ProPublica article and follows the story of the Reels family who are valiantly attempting to protect the land their family bought one generation after slavery.

Alexei Aigui (The Truth, Wild Field, Test) has recently been scoring the upcoming documentary Silver Dollar Road. The film is directed by Raoul Peck and centers on a Black family in North Carolina who battles decades of harassment by land developers trying to seize their waterfront property. The movie draws upon the in-depth reporting of Lizzie Presser, published by ProPublica and The New Yorker.
Alexei Aigui Scoring HBO’s ‘Exterminate All the Brutes’
Alexei Aigui (The Truth, Locust, Test) has recently scored the new HBO hybrid docu-series Exterminate All the Brutes. The show is written and directed by Raoul Peck (Sometimes in April) and follows the filmmaker as he deconstructs the making and masking of history, focusing on the exploitative and genocidal aspects of European colonialism – from America to Africa and its impact on society today. The 4-parter reframes and revisits the meaning of the Native American genocide and American slavery and their fundamental implications for our present. Josh Hartnett plays the lead role in the scripted portions of the film.

Music Box Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the score from for the period drama The Young Karl Marx composed by Alexei Aigui and performed by the Russian State Symphony Cinema Orchestra. Also included is the composer’s music from the documentary I Am Not Your Negro, which was released digitally earlier this year by Lakeshore Records. The soundtrack is now available label’s official website, where you can also check out audio samples. The Young Karl Marx is co-written and directed by Raoul Peck and stars August Diehl, Stefan Konarske and Vicky Krieps. The movie explores the origins of the international Socialist movement, the emergence of the Communist League, and its founding document, the Communist Manifesto, written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.

Lakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary I Am Not Your Negro. The album features the film’s original original music composed by Alexei Aigui (The Horde). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, Friday 17 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. I Am Not Your Negro is directed by Raoul Peck, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson and focuses on James Baldwin’s unfinished novel, Remember This House, which centers on the story of race in modern America. The movie premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and was honored last month with an Academy Award nomination in the Best Documentary category.
