Alexei Aigui (The Truth, Wild Field, Test) has recently been scoring the upcoming documentary Silver Dollar Road. The film is directed by Raoul Peck and centers on a Black family in North Carolina who battles decades of harassment by land developers trying to seize their waterfront property. The movie draws upon the in-depth reporting of Lizzie Presser, published by ProPublica and The New Yorker. The director is also producing the Velvet Film and Amazon Studios production with Blair Foster (Mr. Dynamite: The Rise of James Brown), Remi Grellety and Hebert Peck. Aigui has previously collaborated with Raoul Peck on the features Fatal Assistance, Murder in Pacot, I Am Not Your Negro, The Young Karl Marx and the HBO docuseries Exterminate All the Brutes. Silver Dollar Road will premiere this week at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival and is expected to be released in select theaters and to premiere on Prime Video later this year.
