Varese Sarabande has announced the latest titles in its CD Club series. Among the titles is a deluxe edition soundtrack for Guillermo del Toro’s 2004 feature Hellboy starring Ron Perlman, John Hurt, Selma Blair and Doug Jones. The 2-CD set features the expanded score from the film composed by Academy Award nominee Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, The Wolverine, World War Z, Scream series, The Hurt Locker), including more than an hour of previously unreleased music.. The soundtrack is limited to 3000 copies and is now available to pre-order on the label’s official website, where you can also listen to audio samples and check out the full album details.

‘Crimson Peak’ Soundtrack Details
Quartet Records has released a soundtrack album for Guillermo del Toro’s gothic romance Crimson Peak. The album features the film’s original music composed by Fernando Velazquez (Mama, The Orphanage, The Impossible, Devil, Hercules). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. A CD version is set to be released next month. Crimson Peak is co-written and directed by del Toro and stars Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam and Jim Beaver. The movie is set in the aftermath of a family tragedy and follows an aspiring author who is torn between love for her childhood friend and the temptation of a mysterious outsider.
Fernando Velazquez to Score Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Crimson Peak’
Fernando Velazquez is set to score Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming gothic horror thriller Crimson Peak. The film stars Charlie Hunnam, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska and Tom Hiddleston. No plot details have been revealed yet. Del Toro (Pacific Rim, Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy) and Lucinda Coxon (Wild Target, The Heart of Me) are co-writing the screenplay based on an original script written by del Toro and Matthew Robbins (Mimic, The Sugarland Express, Batteries Not Included). Legendary Pictures is producing and financing the project and Universal Pictures will have the option to come on board as a finance partner at a later date. Velazquez has previously scored the Guillermo del Toro-produced horror thriller Mama.
Ramin Djawadi to Score Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘The Strain’
Ramin Djawadi has been hired to score the upcoming FX drama The Strain. The show is based on the vampire novel trilogy written by Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrrinth) & Chuck Hogan (Prince of Thieves) and stars Corey Stoll, John Hurt, Kevin Durand, Mía Maestro, Jonathan Hyde, Richard Sammel, Javier Botet, Miguel Gomez, Natalie Brown, Jack Kesy, Sean Astin, Robert Maillet and Francis Capra. The horror series centers on a vampire virus that infects New York a and a CDC doctor who is called upon to investigate a viral outbreak connected to an evil strain of vampirism. Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) will serve as the showrunner.

Gustavo Santaolalla to Write Music for Guillermo del Toro’s ‘The Day of the Dead’ and ‘Pan’s Labyrinth’ Stage Musical
Deadline is reporting that Gustavo Santaolalla and Paul Williams are writing songs for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming CG-animated film The Day of the Dead. The movie is directed and co-written by Jorge R. Gutierrez (El Tigre) and is being described as a “Romeo and Juliet-style love story set against a the Mexican holiday “Day of the Dead””. Del Toro is producing the Reel FX production with Aaron Berger and Carina Schulze. The project marks del Toro’s first Mexican film production in almost two decades. The Day of the Dead is targeting a release in the fall of 2014. Santaolalla who received two Academy Awards for his work on Brokeback Mountain and Babel is also composing the music for a stage version of Guillermo del Toro’s 2006 hit film Pan’s Labyrinth about a young stepdaughter of a sadistic army officer who finds refuge and terror in a fantasy world in 1944 Fascist Spain.

The film is directed by Guillermo del Toro and stars Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Charlie Day, Rinko Kikuchi and Ron Perlman. The movie is set in the future where soldiers piloting giant robots battle against giant monsters who have mysteriously risen five miles beneath the ocean. Travid Beacham (Clash of the Titans) has written the screenplay and Del Toro is producing the film with Thomas Tull & Jon Jashni for Legendary Pictures and Mary Parent (Role Models). Del Toro has beem quoted as saying “After many months we have finally closed the scoring with Ramin Djawadi – whose scores for Game of Thrones, Prison Break and Iron Man are amongst my favorites in the last few years.” The director has previously collaborated with composers Marco Beltrami (Hellboy, Mimic), Danny Elfman (Hellboy II: The Golden Army) and Javier Navarrete (Pan’s Labyrinth).
‘Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark’ Soundtrack Details
Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack release for the upcoming horror thriller Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark. The album features the film’s original score by Marco Beltrami and Buck Sanders. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 30, 2011 and on CD on September 27 (available for pre-order on Amazon). Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be check out below. Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark directed by Troy Nixey and produced by Guillermo Del Toro stars Katie Holmes, Guy Pearce and Bailee Madison.
