Cliff Martinez has composed the music for the upcoming comedy Arms and the Dudes. The film is directed by Todd Phillips and stars Miles Teller, Jonah Hill, Ana de Armas and JB Blanc. The movie is based on a Rolling Stone article by Guy Lawson and follows two unlikely arms dealers who received a $300 million contract to supply weapons for U.S. allies in Afghanistan and soon found themselves in danger abroad and in trouble back home because they were completely out of their depth. Phillips is also producing the project with Scott Budnick, Mark Gordon (Saving Private Ryan, Speed, Steve Jobs) and Bryan Zuriff (Ray Donovan, The Details).

‘The Knick’ Season 2 Soundtrack Announced
Milan Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Cinemax original series The Knick. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Cliff Martinez (Traffic, Drive, Contagion, Solaris, Sex, Lies and Videotapes). The soundtrack will be released digitally on October 30, 2015. A CD version is set to come out on December 18 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released a soundtrack album featuring music from the first season. The Knick is directed by Steven Soderbergh, created by Jack Amiel & Michael Begler and stars Clive Owen, Andre Holland, Juliet Rylance, Eve Hewson, Collin Meath and Michael Angarano. The series follows the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff at the Knickerbocker Hospital in time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics.
Cliff Martinez to Score Nicolas Winding Refn’s ‘The Neon Demon’
Gaumont and Wild Bunch announced today that Cliff Martinez will reunite with director Nicolas Winding Refn on the upcoming horror thriller The Neon Demon. No plot details have been announced yet, but the film is described as a horror tale with a young female-led cast, which will be revealed later this year. Refn and Mary Laws are writing the screenplay. Lene Borglum (Valhalla Rising, Only God Forgives) is producing the project through Refn’s production company Space Rocket. Also on board are editor Matthew Newman (Bronson, Drive) and Academy Award-nominated cinematographer Philippe Le Sourd (The Grandmaster, Seven Pounds, A Good Year). Martinez has previously scored Refn’s two previous features Drive and Only God Forgives.
Cliff Martinez to Score Cary Fukunaga’s ‘Beasts of No Nation’
Cliff Martinez revealed in a recent interview with Celluloid Tunes during this year’s Ghent Film Festival that he is set to score the upcoming drama Beasts of No Nation. The film is written and directed by Cary Fukunaga and stars Idris Elba, Ama K. Abebrese, Grace Nortey, David Dontoh and Opeyemi Fagbohungbe. The movie is based on the novel of the same title by Nigerian author Uzodinma Iweala and follows the journey of a boy who is forced to join a group of soldiers in an unnamed West African country. Amy Kaufman (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Sin Nombre), Riva Marker & Daniela Taplin Lundberg (The Kids Are All Right, Grace Is Gone, What Maisie Knew) are producing the Participant Media and Red Crown production.
‘My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn’ Soundtrack Details
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn. The album features the film’s original music composed by Cliff Martinez (Traffic, Spring Breakers, Solaris) who composed the score for Winding Refn’s last two features Drive and Only God Forgives. Also included is the track Disconnected by Julian Winding. No domestic release date has been announced yet, but the soundtrack is already available in a couple of international territories. My Life Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn is directed by Liv Corfixen and follows the Danish filmmaker on the set of Only God Forgives starring Ryan Gosling in Thailand. Cliff Martinez revealed in a recent interview with Lost in the Multiplex that he will be scoring Steven Soderbergh’s upcoming Cinemax original series The Knick. The show starring Clive Owen, Andre Holland, Juliet Rylance, Eve Hewson, Collin Meath and Michael Angarano is set in downtown New York in 1900 and follows the groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff at the Knickerbocker Hospital who push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics. Soderbergh will direct all ten episodes of the series. Jack Amiel & Michael Begler (Big Miracle, The Prince and Me, Raising Helen) have written the scripts and are also executive producing the drama with Soderbergh, Owen and Michael Sugar (The Fifth Estate, Big Miracle) and Gregory Jacobs (Magic Mike, Side Effects).
