Netflix Music has released an EP featuring four songs from the sixth season of the Netflix original series Virgin River. Mel & Jack’s Wedding Mixtape includes the original song This Heart of Mine written and performed by The Lumineers’ Wesley Schultz (previously released as a digital single), a cover of the track by Callum Kerr, a cover of Boffalongo’s Dancing in the Moonlight by The Promised, as well as another song (Me and You) performed by The Promised. Opening in theaters nationwide is Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King directed by Barry Jenkins and starring Aaron Pierre, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Tiffany Boone, Mads Mikkelsen, Anika Noni Rose,Keith David, Seth Rogen, Thandiwe Newton, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover, Blue Ivy Carter and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter.The film’s original songs are written by and the movie’s original score is composed by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Encanto, Moana, Hamilton, In the Heights) and Dave Metzger (Wish, Tarzan & Jane, Brother Bear 2). Lebo M has provided additional music and performances and Mark Mancina has produced the songs with Miranda. Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs and another album featuring the score, as well as a deluxe edition featuring both score and songs over the last week. Also opening nationwide is the action adventure comedy sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 3 directed by Jeff Fowler and starring Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz James Marsden, Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, Krysten Ritter, Tika Sumpter, Natasha Rothwell, Lee Majdoub, Adam Pally and Shemar Moore. Tom Holkenborg (Mad Max: Fury Road, Deadpool, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, Godzilla vs. Kong, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Alita: Battle Angel) has composed the film’s original music. Milan Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score today. ‘Wicked’ Sing-Along Soundtrack Album Released

Republic Records & Verve Label Group have released a third soundtrack album for the first part of the film adaptation of the stage musical Wicked. The “Sing-Along” album features instrumental versions of all eleven songs from the movie written (originally for the stage show) by Stephen Schwartz (The Prince of Egypt, Pippin, Pocahontas). Robbie Williams’ Original Song ‘Forbidden Road’ from ‘Bettter Man’ Disqualified from Oscar Consideration

The Academy has notified members of the music branch that the Oscar-shortlisted original song Forbidden Road from the biographical musical drama Better Man has been disqualified. The track co-written (with Freddy Wexler & Sacha Skarbek and produced by Dan Romer & Wexler) and performed by Robbie Williams was found to feature “material from an existing song that was not written for this film.” The existing title has been identified as the Jim Croce song I Got A Name written by Academy governor Charles Fox & Norman Gimbel for the 1973 feature The Last American Hero. This week, Christopher Lennertz (The Boys, Lost in Space, Sausage Party, Ride Along, Tom & Jerry, Agent Carter, Supernatural) has recorded his score for the upcoming heist comedy The Pickup. The film is directed by Tim Story (Fantastic Four, Barbershop) and stars Eddie Murphy, Keke Palmer, Pete Davidson, Andrew Dice Clay, Eva Longoria, Jack Kesy, Ismael Cruz Cordova, and Marshawn Lynch. ‘Homestead’ Soundtrack Album Released

Lakeshore Records has released a soundtrack album for the thriller Homestead. The album features the film’s original score composed by Benjamin Backus (A Week Away, Valiant One). Walt Disney Records has released a third soundtrack album for Barry Jenkins’ Mufasa: The Lion King. The album features the film’s original score composed by Dave Metzger (Wish, Brother Bear 2,Tarzan & Jane) and is now available to stream/download on all major digital music, including Amazon, where you can also check out the track list. All score tracks have previously been released as part of the deluxe edition soundtrack, which also includes Lin-Manuel Miranda’s original songs from the movie, last week.
