Michael Giacchino (UpLost, The Incredibles, Jurassic WorldRatatouille, Spider-Man: Far from HomeThe Batman,  Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) has provided the original score for the upcoming sci-fi comedy drama Klara and the Sun. The film is directed by Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok, What We Do in the Shadows) and stars Jenna Ortega, Amy Adams, Mia Tharia, Steve Buscemi, Aran Murphy​ and Natasha Lyonne. The movie is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Kazuo Ishiguro and revolves around an Artificial Friend who wants nothing more than to find the perfect home, when she gets chosen by a teenage girl who suffers from a mysterious illness to be her companionWaititi also co-wrote the screenplay with Dahvi Waller (Mrs. America). He is also producing the project with David Heyman (Barbie, Gravity) and Garrett Basch (Ripley, Devs). Giacchino has previously scored Waititi’s last three features, Jojo Rabbit, Thor: Love and Thunder (with Nami Melumad) and Next Goal Wins. Klara and the Sun will be released in theaters nationwide on October 23, 2026 by Sony Pictures.

Giacchino’s other upcoming projects include Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day (to be released in theaters on July 31), David Robert Mitchell’s The End of Oak Street (to be released in theaters theatrically on August 14), Brad Bird’s Ray Gunn (to be released in select theaters and on Netflix this fall) and the animated feature High in the Clouds.
