Film Fest Gent and the World Soundtrack Academy have announced the second wave of nominees for the 2024 World Soundtrack Awards in the categories Discovery of the Year, Public Choice Award, WSA Game Music Award, Best Original Score for a Belgian Production and Sabam Award for Best Original Composition by a Young Composer. The winners will be announced at the World Soundtrack Awards & concert on October 16 at the Ghent International Film Festival. The album features the film’s original music composed by Fabrizio Mancinelli (Coyote Lake, Mushka, The Land of Dreams, The Snow Queen 3: Fire and Ice). Republic Records will release a new soundtrack album for the Netflix original series Emily in Paris. The album features the songs from the fourth season of the show performed by actress Ashley Park, including the original track Ruins (listen to the song after the jump), as well as covers of Elton John’s & Kiki Dee’s Don’t Go Breaking My Heart & Britney Spears’ Ooops I Did It Again (both with Kevin Dias), Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, as well Gracie Abrams’ Close to You, DO Not DO’s French language cover of Blondie’s Heart of Glass, Keren Ann’s rendition of Dancing in the Moonlight cover and Clio’s Tous Les Garcons Et Les Filles cover. Composer Daniel Hart is reteaming with director David Lowery on the upcoming Disney+ animated short An Almost Christmas Story. The film is directed by Lowery and features the voices of Cary Christopher, Estella Madrigal, Jim Gaffigan, Alex Ross Perry, Mamoudou Athie, Gianna Joseph, Phil Rosenthal, Natasha Lyonne, as well as John C. Reilly as “The Folk Singer” who performs four songs in the short, two of which are original songs. The short follows a curious young owl who unexpectedly finds himself stuck in a Christmas tree destined for Rockefeller Plaza and befriends a lost young girl while attempting to escape the bustling city.
