Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack for the 1991 action drama Backdraft directed by Ron Howard and starring Kurt Russell, William Baldwin, Scott Glenn, Rebecca De Mornay, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Donald Sutherland and Robert De Niro. The 2-CD set features the film’s expanded original muisc composed by Academy Award winner Hans Zimmer (Dune, The Lion King, Gladiator, The Dark Knight, Inception, The Last Samurai, Rain Man, Man of Steel, Interstellar), including the world premiere release of the complete score on the first disc and the score selections from the original 1991 soundtrack album (released by Milan Records) on the second disc. Epic Records has released a digital version of the soundtrack album for the 1974 family adventure Benji written and directed by Joe Camp and starring Peter Breck, Christopher Connelly, Patsy Garrett, Tom Lester, Mark Slade, Herb Vigran, Deborah Walley, Frances Bavier, Edgar Buchanan and Terry Carter. The album features the film’s original music composed, arranged and conducted by Euel Box (For the Love of Benji, Hawmps!, The Double McGuffin, Oh Heavenly Dog), including his original score, as well as the “theme” song I Feel Love (performed by Charlie Rich), for which the composer received an Academy Award nomination.
