Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Sugarcane. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mali Obomsawin. Sugarcane is directed by Julian Brave NoiseCat & Emily Kassie, executive produced by actress Lily Gladstone and centers on an investigation into abuse and missing children at an Indian residential school that ignites a reckoning on the nearby Sugarcane Reserve. Mark Mancina to Return for Disney’s Live-Action ‘Moana’ Movie

Mark Mancina (Twister, Tarzan, Moana, Speed, Bad Boys, Brother Bear, August Rush, Cry Macho, The Sea Beast) has confirmed in a recent interview with Film Music Live that he will be involved in the upcoming live-action adaptation of Disney’s animated hit feature Moana. The film is directed by Thomas Kail (Fosse/Verdon) and stars Catherine Laga‘ai in the title role, Dwayne Johnson who reprises his role of Maui, John Tui as Moana’s father, Chief Tui, Frankie Adams as her mother, Sina, as well as Rena Owen as Gramma Tala. Hildur Guđnadóttir (Joker, Chernobyl, A Haunting in Venice, Women Talking, Tar, Sicario: Day of the Soldado) is set to score the upcoming horror sequel 28 Years Later Part II: The Bone Temple. The second part of a planned new trilogy is directed by Nia DaCosta (The Marvels,Candyman) and written by Alex Garland (Ex Machina, Civil War) & Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting) who scripted and directed the original 2002 28 Days Later movie (scored by John Murphy) and the first part of the new trilogy (28 Years Later, to be released in theaters on June 20, 2025). ‘Y2K’ Soundtrack Album Announced

A24 has announced a soundtrack album for the comedy Y2K. The album features a selection of the songs from the film by artists such as Fatboy Slim, Mandy Moore, Korn, ATB, Limp Bizkit & others, as well as bonus contributions from the cast, including Julian Dennison’s rendition of Sisqó’s Thong Song (check out the just released video clip below). The soundtrack CD will be released on January 17, 2025 and is now available to order exclusively from A24’s online store. Y2K is co-written and directed by Kyle Mooney and stars Rachel Zegler, Jaeden Martell, Julian Dennison, Lachlan Watson, Daniel Zolghadri, Mason Gooding and The Kid Laroi. The movie takes place on the final night of 1999 and follows two high school juniors as they crash a New Years Eve party, only to find themselves fighting for their lives. The show’s original music is composed by Nami Melumad (Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, Thor: Love and Thunder, Star Trek: Prodigy, An American Pickle, One Fast Move, Absentia). Walt Disney Records will release a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score on December 20.
