ELA has released a digital version of the soundtrack album for the 1999 Polish/French drama Pan Tadeusz co-written and directed by Andrzej Wajda and starring Bogusław Linda, Alicja Bachleda ,Grażyna Szapołowska, Michał Żebrowski, Marek Kondrat and and Andrzej Seweryn. The album features the film’s original score composed by Wojciech Kilar (Bram Stoker‘s Dracula, The Pianist, The Ninth Gate, The Portrait of a Lady, The Death and the Maiden). Also included is the song Soplicowo performed by Grzegorz Turnau and Stanislaw Soyka. The soundtrack is now available to stream/download here, where you can also check out the track list (in French). Expanded ‘The World Is Not Enough’ & ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ Soundtrack Albums to Be Released
La-La Land Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1999 James Bond movie The World Is Not Enough directed by Michael Apted and starring Pierce Brosnan, Sophie Marceau, Denise Richards and Robert Carlyle. The album features the remastered and expanded original score from the movie composed by David Arnold (Independence Day, Stargate, Sherlock, Casino Royale, Tomorrow Never Dies), including over 30 minutes of previously unreleased music, plus alternate cues. Also included is the title song performed by Garbage and a demo version of the track performed by Arnold himself. Wojciech Kilar (1932 – 2013)
Wojciech Kilar has passed away at age 81. The Polish composer was best known for his work for film, including the scores for Francis Ford Coppola’s Bram Stoker‘s Dracula, Jane Campion’s The Portrait of a Lady and three collaborations with Roman Polanski on movies including The Ninth Gate, The Death and the Maiden and The Pianist, for which he was honored with a BAFTA nomination and a Cesar Award. His other film scoring credits include James Gray’s We Own the Night, as well as numerous Polish film and TV productions. Kilar was born in 1932 and went on to study piano and composition and graduated from the State Higher School of Music in his hometown Katowice in Southern Poland. Apart from his music for film and television, he has also written a number of symphonies and concertos.
Film Music Festival in Krakow to Celebrate Elliot Goldenthal
Composer Elliot Goldenthal will be celebrated in concert at the Film Music Festival in Krakow on Saturday, May 26 at the Tinning Plant of ArcelorMittal Poland in Krakow. The concert will be performed by the Polish Orchestra Sinfonietta Cracovia accompanied by Pro Musica Mundi Choir and the boys’ choir Pueri Contores Sancti Nicolai and conducted by composer Diego Navarro. The first part of the concert program – Alien – The Biomechanical Symphony – will be devoted to music from all four Alien films in the sci-fi saga and will feature suites from Goldenthal’s music for Alien 3, as well as from Jerry Goldsmith’s Alien, James Horner’s Aliens and John Frizzell’s Alien: Resurrection scores. The second part of the program – Elliot Goldenthal’s Cinema of Art & Blood – will feature music from some of Goldenthal’s collaborations with director Julie Taymor including Frida (for which the composer received his first Academy Award) and Titus in addition to his music from Neil Jordan’s Interview with a Vampire and Joel Schumacher’s Batman Forever.
