Composer Carlo Siliotto has recently scored his first English language feature film in several years. The comedy Without Men starring Eva Longoria, Christian Slater, Kate del Castillo and Oscar Nunez centers on a group of women of a small, remote Latin American mountain village that’s forever altered the day all of its men are recruited to go fight in the country’s civil war. The movie is based on James Canon’s Tales From the Town of Widows: A Novel and written for the screen and directed by Gabriela Tagliavini. The music for the film was recorded earlier this year in Bulgaria. Siliotto is best known internationally for his music for the 2004 comic book adaptation The Punisher and his Golden Globe-nominated score for Nomad: The Warrior. Maya Entertainment has picked up domestic rights for Without Men and is planning a theatrical release later this year.

‘Horrible Bosses’ Soundtrack Details

Watertower Music has announced the details for the soundtrack release of the comedy Horrible Bosses. The album includes the original score by Christopher Lennertz who collaborated with numerous rock musicians, including Money Mark (Beastie Boys), Mick McCready (Pearl Jam), Dave Levita (Eminem), Chris Chaney (Jane’s Addiction), Stefan Lessard (Dave Matthews Band),Victor Indrizzo (Beck) and DJ Cheapshot (Fort Minor, Linkin Park) to create the film’s music. Three new movies are opening wide this holiday weekend:
Michael Bay’s Transformers: Dark of the Moon starring Shia LaBeouf, Rosie Huntington-Whitley, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, John Malkovich, Patrick Dempsey, Ken Jeong, Alan Tudyk, Frances McDormand and John Turturro already opened on Wednesday. The film’s music is composed by Steve Jablonsky. A score album has been released digitally and is available to download on iTunes (check out our soundtrack announcement for more information). Also opening wide this weekend is the Tom Hanks-directed comedy drama Larry Crowne starring Hanks and Julia Roberts. The movie is scored by composer James Newton Howard. A soundtrack album featuring twelve songs from the film and one track of Newton Howard’s score has been released earlier this week on Rhino Records. James Horner to Score ‘Black Gold’

James Horner has signed on to write the music for the epic adventure Black Gold. The film is directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud who has previously collaborated with Horner on the 1986 thriller The Name of the Rose starring Sean Connery and the 2001 war drama Enemy at the Gates. Black Gold is based on the classic novel The Great Thirst by Hans Reuschand and tells the story of the rivalry between two Emirs in Arabia in the 1930’s just as oil is being discovered, and the rise of a young, dynamic leader who unites the various tribes of the desert kingdoms. Henry Jackman Scoring ‘Man on a Ledge’

Henry Jackman is scoring the upcoming cop thriller Man on a Ledge. The movie starring Sam Worthington, Elizabeth Banks, Ed Harris, Jamie Bell, Anthony Mackie, Edward Burns and Kyra Sedgwick centers on an ex-cop and now wanted fugitive who stands on the ledge of a high-rise building while an NYPD hostage negotiator tries to talk him down. The film is directed by Asger Leth who previously helmed the documentary Ghosts of Cite Soleil. Pablo Fenjves, Chris Gorak (Right at Your Door) and Erich & Jon Hoeber (Red, the upcoming Battleship) wrote the project’s script. Harald Kloser to Co-Write and Co-Produce Roland Emmerich’s ‘Singularity’

Deadline reports that composer/screenwriter/producer Harald Kloser co-wrote the screenplay for Roland Emmerich’s upcoming science fiction movie Singularity, which he is also co-producing. No word yet on if he will be writing the score for the film as well, but given his previous work with the director, it is assumed that he will also be involved in the music for the project. No information about the movie’s plot has been revealed yet. Kloser previously co-wrote the scripts for Emmerich’s 10’000 BC and 2012 and co-scored both movies with composer Thomas Wander. ‘A Little Help’ Soundtrack announced

Columbia Records has announced a soundtrack release for the comedy drama A Little Help. The album includes two score tracks by composer Austin Wintory (Captain Abu Raed, Grace), as well as the original song I’m Lucky co-written by Wintory and Céleigh Chapman. Also featured on the soundtrack are Jakob Dylan with three original songs, Rob Benedict’s band Louden Swain, Dion, Zach Page and Céleigh Chapman. The album will be released digitally on July 19, 2011. Check out audio clips from all tracks on the album below. A Little Help is directed by Michael J. Weithorn (The King of Queens) and centers on a recently widowed single mom who reconnects with an old flame – her sister’s husband. The film stars Jenna Fischer, Chris O’Donnell and Rob Benedict. The first teaser trailer for Steven Spielberg’s upcoming epic drama War Horse has surfaced online and while it hasn’t officially been confirmed yet, it undoubtedly sounds like that it features original music by John Williams. Check out the trailer after the jump. War Horse stars David Thewlis, Benedict Cumberbatch, Emily Watson, Peter Mullan, Niels Arestrup, Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irvine and Toby Kebbell. The film follows a young man named Albert and his horse, Joey, and how their bond is broken when Joey is sold to the cavalry and sent to the trenches of World War One. Danny Elfman and T Bone Burnett to Team Up for ‘The Hunger Games’

Lionsgate (via The Hollywood Reporter) has confirmed today that Danny Elfman and T Bone Burnett are teaming up to score the upcoming film adaptation of The Hunger Games. As previously reported, Elfman mentioned in an interview earlier this month that he has been in talks to score the film. Apart from collaborating on the score with Elfman, Burnett will also serve as the film’s Executive Music Producer, producing songs for the film and soundtrack. The movie based on the bestselling novel by Suzanne Collins is directed by Gary Ross (Pleasantville, Seabiscuit). Jennifer Lawrence stars a young woman selected to represent her district in a televised fight to the death. Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Stanley Tucci, Elizabeth Banks and Woody Harrelson are co-starring. Nina Jacobson (Diary of a Wimpy Kid, One Day) and Jon Kilik (Babel, Inside Man) are producing. The Hunger Games will be released on March 23, 2011.
