A soundtrack album for the indie drama On the Ice has been announced. The release features the original score from the film composed by iZLER (ABC’s hit show Revenge, Natural Selection). The soundtrack is coming out digitally on April 24, 2012 and will be available to download on Amazon. Audio clips from all tracks on the album can be checked out after the jump. On the Ice is written and directed by Andrew Okpeaha MacLean and was shot entirely on location in Barrow, Alaska. Rupert Gregson-Williams and Christopher Willis are scoring the new HBO comedy series Veep. The political satire is created by Armando Iannucci (In the Loop) and stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as former senator Selina Meyer, a rising star in her party and charismatic leader who seemed to have unlimited potential, until she became vice president and soon discovers the job is nothing like she expected, but everything she was warned about. Tony Hale, Anna Chlumsky, Matt Walsh, Reid Scott, Timothy C. Simons and Sufe Bradshaw are co-starring. John Williams Performs ‘Fanfare for Fenway’

Last night, composer John Williams and the Boston Pops debuted the original piece Fanfare for Fenway as part of the Red Sox commemoration of their 100th year in Fenway Park. NESN.com has published a video from the performance conducted by Williams, which can be watched after the jump. As reported last month, the fanfare has also been recorded at Symphony Hall in Boston by musicians from the Boston Pops Orchestra in March and will be played throughout this year’s Baseball season at Fenway Park. Milan Records has announced a soundtrack album for the documentary Last Call at the Oasis. The album features the original score from the movie written by Emmy Award-winning composer Jeff Beal (Appaloosa, Rome, Carnivale). Mark Sayfritz has signed on to score the comedic thriller Filth. The movie is written and directed by Jon S. Baird (Green Street Hooligans, Cass) and stars James McAvoy as an Edinburgh police detective who is manipulating everyone who stands in his way of securing a job promotion and winning back his family and daughter. Jamie Bell, Jim Broadbent, Eddie Marsan, Imogen Poots and Joanne Frogatt are co-starring in the film based on the novel by Irvine Welsh (Trainspotting). Artists’ Addiction Records will be releasing both the score and a soundtrack album for the upcoming comedy drama Girl in Progress. The score album features the original music from the film composed by Christopher Lennertz (Horrible Bosses, Hop). The album will be released digitally on May 8, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips from the score can be checked out below. Also scheduled to be released on the same day is a separate soundtrack featuring the film’s songs by artists including Eydie Gorme y Los Panchos, Espinoza Paz, Queen Sea Big Shark and Beth Thornley. Madison Gate Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for Aardman Animation’s and Sony Pictures Animation’s 3D stop-motion animated feature The Pirates! Band of Misfits. The album features the original score from the movie composed by Theodore Shapiro (Tropic Thunder, The Devil Wears Prada) who makes his animated feature scoring debut on the film. The soundtrack will be released digitally on April 24, 2012. UPDATE (June 2012): The album has also been released as an on demand CD-R on Amazon. Slash Slated to Score ‘Nothing to Fear’

According to Variety, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash is attached to score the indie horror thriller Nothing to Fear. The film marks the directorial debut of storyboard artist Anthony Leonardi III (Rango, 47 Ronin) and stars James Tupper, Anne Heche, Rebekah Brandes, Clancy Brown and Ethan Peck. The movie follows a family that moves to a small town seeking a better life, only to to run against a charismatic but emotionally conflicted man of the cloth. Slash is also producing the film with Rob Eric and Michael Williams (Session 9) through his Slasher Films production company. He has previously scored the comedy drama This Is Not a Movie starring Edward Furlong and Peter Coyote. He also has played guitar on a number of high profile film scores, such as Clint Mansell’s The Wrestler and Brian Tyler’s The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift. Anchor Bay has picked up domestic rights to Nothing to Fear. No release date has been announced yet.
Walter Murphy Scores Seth MacFarlane’s ‘Ted’

Walter Murphy is currently recording his orchestral score for the upcoming live action & CG-animated comedy Ted. The film is directed by Seth MacFarlane and stars Mark Wahlberg, Mila Kunis, Giovanni Ribisi and Joel McHale. The movie tells the story of a grown man who must deal with the cherished teddy bear (voiced by MacFarlane) who came to life as the result of a childhood wish and has refused to leave his side ever since. MacFarlane has co-written the screenplay with Alec Sulkin & Wellesley Wild and is also producing the film with Scott Stuber (Role Models, Safe House), John Jacobs (Blades of Glory) and Jason Clark (Hotel for Dogs). Murphy has been working with MacFarlane over the last couple of years on the animated hit shows American Dad and Family Guy, for which the composer has received four Emmy Award nominations.
