The details for the soundtrack album for the action adventure movie Red Dawn have been revealed. The album features the film’s original music composed by Ramin Djawadi (Iron Man, Game of Thrones). The soundtrack will be released on November 19, 2012 by Sony Masterworks and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips can be checked out below. Red Dawn is directed by Dan Bradley and stars Chris Hemsworth, Josh Peck, Josh Hutcherson, Adrianne Palicki, Isabel Lucas, Connor Cruise and Jeffrey Dean Morgan. The film is a remake of the 1984 feature directed by John Milius and follows a group of teenagers who have to save their town from an invasion of Chinese and Russian soldiers. James Newton Howard to Return for ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’

James Newton Howard has confirmed in a recent interview with Filmmusicsite.com, Underscores.fr and BSO Spirit (available to listen here) at last weekend’s Ghent Film Festival that he is attached to score the upcoming The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire. The composer has scored this year’s first part in the series and has also written the music for the sequel’s director Francis Lawrence’s previous two features I Am Legend and Water for Elephants. Catching Fire based on the novel by Suzanne Collins stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Jeffrey Wright, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland. Academy Award-winning screenwriters Simon Beaufoy (Slumdog Millionaire) and Michael Arndt (Little Miss Sunshine) have penned the script. Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik are returning as the producers. ‘Thale’ Soundtrack Released

Screamworks Records has released a soundtrack album for the Norwegian supernatural thriller Thale. The album features the film’s original music composed and produced by Raymond Enoksen and Geirmund Simonsen. The album is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Thale is written and directed by Aleksander L. Nordaas and tells the story of a mythical “huldra,” a beautiful, tailed female forest creature who is discovered in a concealed cellar by two crime scene cleaners. The film starring Silje Reinåmo, Jon Sigve Skard, Erlend Nervold, Morten Andresen, Sunniva Lien and Roland Åstrand premiered at last month’s Toronto Film Festival and has been picked up by XLrator Media for a US release in early 2013. Claude Foisy is currently scoring the new CW drama Beauty and the Beast. The composer has started working on the series with last week’s episode Proceed with Caution and will be writing the score for the rest of the first season. Mark Isham has scored the pilot episode, which premiered two weeks ago. The show stars Kristin Kreuk as a homicide detective who witnessed the murder of her mother at the hands of two gunmen when she was a teenager and is about to uncover the mystery of the “beast” that saved her ten years later. Columbia Records will release a new soundtrack album for the FX hit series Sons of Anarchy. Songs of Anarchy: Vol. 2 features songs from the show by artists including Jane’s Addiction, Greg Holden, The Forest Rangers, Joshua James, actress Katey Sagal, Battleme, Noah Gundersen, Franky Perez, Alison Mosshart, Curtis Stigers, Audra Mae and Franky Perez. Walt Disney Records to Release BT’s ‘Partysaurus Rex’ Soundtrack

Walt Disney Records will release Partysaurus Overflow, the score from the Pixar animated short Partysaurus Rex. The music is composed by BT (The Fast and the Furious, Monster). The one-track single will be released on October 30, 2012 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Partysaurus Rex is the third short in the Toy Story Toons series and follows Rex who is getting left out in the bathroom and starts to make friends with bath toys. The film’s voice talent includes Wallace Shawn, Tom Hanks and Tim Allen. The short was attached to last month’s 3D re-release of Finding Nemo and is now available to download on iTunes.

Varese Sarabande has announced the newest titles in the label’s CD Club series. Among the latest releases is a deluxe edition for the 1991 action thriller sequel Die Hard 2 – Die Harder directed by Renny Harlin and starring Bruce Willis, Dennis Franz, John Amos and Bonnie Bedelia. The film’s music is composed and conducted by Michael Kamen (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Lethal Weapon) who has scored the first three part in the Die Hard series. The 2-CD set includes the composer’s score from the film, as well as several alternates and the end credits piece Finlandia composed by Jean Sibelius. Andrew Lockington Scoring ‘Primeval: New World’

Andrew Lockington is scoring the upcoming sci-fi series Primeval: New World. The show created by Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens (Star Trek: Enterprise) is a North American spin-off of the British series Primeval, which ran for five seasons and aired in the US on Syfy and BBC America. Primeval: New World stars Niall Matter (Eureka), Sara Canning (The Vampire Diaries) and Danny Rahim as a team of animal experts and scientists investigating paranormal events, while battling both prehistoric and futuristic creatures. Martin Wood and Gillian Horvath who previously worked with Lockington (Journey to the Center of the Earth, City of Ember) on the sci-fi series Sanctuary are among the executive producers of the Omni Film Productions show. Alberto Iglesias Named Film Composer of the Year 2012 at World Soundtrack Awards

Alberto Iglesias was chosen as Film Composer of the Year 2012 at the World Soundtrack Awards 2012, tonight’s closing event of the 39th Ghent Film Festival. Iglesias also received an award for his score for Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy in the Best Original Film Score of the Year 2012 category. The composer’s other scores of the past year include The Monk (Le Moine) and Pedro Almadovar’s The Skin I Live In (La Piel Que Habito). In the Discovery of the Year category, Brian Byrne was awarded for his score for Rodrigo Garcia’s Albert Nobbs starring Glenn Close. The composer also received an award for the original song Lay Your Head Down from Albert Nobbs, which features lyrics by Glenn Close and is performed by Sinead O’Connor.
