‘Piranha 3DD’ Soundtrack Announced

Lakeshore Records has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the horror film sequel Piranha 3DD. The album features the songs from the movie by artists including Marcus Latief Scott, Twirl, Automatic Music Explosion, The One & Only’s, All The Right Moves, Sarah Khula, Cellphish and The Limousines. The soundtrack will be released digitally on May 22, 2012 and on physically on May 29. To pre-order the CD, visit Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article later this month. Piranha 3DD is directed by John Gulager (Feast trilogy) and stars Ving Rhames, Christopher Llyod, Paul Scheer, Danielle Panabaker, Gary Busey, Katrina Bowden, David Koechner, Matt Bush, Chris Zylka, Megan Tandy and David Hasselhoff. Trevor Rabin has been tapped to score the ABC drama pilot Zero Hour. The show is created by Paul Scheuring (Prison Break) and stars Anthony Edwards (ER) as a former editor of a skeptics magazine who becomes involved in one the most compelling conspiracies in human history when his wife is kidnapped. Michael Nyqvist (Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), Jacinda Barrett, Addison Timlin, Carmen Ejogo and Scott Michael Foster (Greek) are co-starring. Pierre Morel (Taken, From Paris With Love) is directing the pilot. Scheuring has also written the pilot’s script and is executive producing the ABC Studios production with Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, Red) and Dan McDermott. Read the rest of this entry »

Howe Records will be releasing the soundtrack album for David Cronenberg’s upcoming drama Cosmopolis. The album features the film’s original score by Academy Award-winning composer Howard Shore performed by the indie rock band Metric. The composer has also co-written three original songs with the Canadian band. Also featured on the soundtrack is the song Mecca by Somali singer/rapper K’NAAN. The soundtrack will be released in France on May 15, 2012 and in the US on July 10. Visit Amazon to order the album and check out audio clips from all tracks on the album here. Cosmopolis is based on the novel by Don DeLillo and stars Robert Pattinson, Juliette Binoche and Paul Giamatti. The film about a multimillionaire who risks his entire fortune to bet against the yen on a cataclysmic day will be premiering at the Cannes Film Festival later this month and is also set to be released throughout Europe over the next few months. Edward Shearmur has signed on to score ABC’s drama pilot Devious Maids. The show is created by Marc Cherry (Desperate Housewives) and stars Ana Ortiz, Dania Ramirez, Roselyn Sanchez and Judy Reyes as four maids with ambition and dreams of their own who work for the rich and famous in Beverly Hills. Brett Cullen, Brianna Brown, Drew Van Acker and Susan Lucci are co-starring. Paul McGuigan (Lucky Number Slevin, Wicker Park) is directing the pilot. Cherry has written the pilot’s script and is executive producing the show with actress Eva Longoria who makes her TV series producing debut. Also executive producing are Sabrina Wind, Paul Presburger, David Lonner, Larry Shuman, John Mass and Michael Garcia. Cherry’s current hit show Desperate Housewives, which is its series finale in a few weeks is scored by Steve Jablonsky and features a main titles theme by Danny Elfman. Read the rest of this entry »

Only one movie is opening in wide release this weekend:

Already beating box office records is the comic book adaptation The Avengers written and directed by Joss Whedon and starring Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson, Clark Gregg and Samuel L. Jackson. The film’s score is composed by Alan Silvestri. The composer’s score has been released digitally on Hollywood Records and in an expanded form on CD by Intrada Records. Opening in limited release is the comedy The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel directed by John Madden and starring Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy, Dev Patel and Tom Wilkinson. Thomas Newman has composed the film’s music. A soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score has been released by Sony Classical earlier this week in the US. Marco Beltrami has been hired to score the upcoming post-apocalyptic thriller Snowpiercer. The film marks the English-language feature debut of Korean director Bong Joon-ho (Mother, The Host) and stars Chris Pine, Tilda Swinton, Jamie Bell, John Hurt, Kenny Doughty and Octavia Spencer. The movie is set in a future where, after a failed experiment to stop global warming, an Ice Age kills off all life on the planet except for the inhabitants of the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine. Bong has co-written the screenplay with Kelly Masterson (Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead). Chan-wook Park (Oldboy) is producing the independent production. The details for the soundtrack album for epic fantasy adventure Snow White and the Huntsman have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by James Newton Howard, as well as the new original song Breath Of Life by Florence + the Machine (listen to the full song after the jump). ‘Hysteria’ Soundtrack Details

Lakeshore Records has announced the details of the soundtrack release for the British romantic comedy Hysteria. The album includes the original score from the movie composed by Christian Henson (The Devil’s Double). The soundtrack is coming out digitally on May 15, 2012. The CD version is scheduled to be released on June 12 and can be pre-ordered on Amazon. Audio clips will be added to this article within the next two weeks. Hysteria is directed by Tanya Wexler and stars Hugh Dancy, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Jonathan Pryce, Rupert Everett and Felicity Jones. The romantic comedy about the invention world’s first electromechanical vibrator in Victorian London will be released in theaters on May 18, 2012 by Sony Pictures Classics. The German film music magazine Cinema Musica has published audio clips from all 22 tracks of the soundtrack album for the sci-fi comedy sequel Men in Black 3. The album features the original score from the film composed by Danny Elfman. Click here to listen to the clips. As previously announced, the physical release of the album is scheduled in the US for May 29, 2012 and is available for pre-order on Amazon. Since our last update, the label has also published the album cover art. Men in Black 3 is directed by Barry Sonnenfeld and stars Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Jemaine Clement, Alice Eve and Emma Thompson. Michael Andrews is currently scoring the upcoming political thriller The Reluctant Fundamentalist. The film is directed by Mira Nair and stars Kate Hudson, Riz Ahmed, Kiefer Sutherland, Liev Schreiber, Martin Donovan and Om Puri. The film based on Mohsin Hamid’s novel with the same title follows a young Pakistani man working on Wall Street and chasing the American dream, whose life is fateful changed  by the September 11 attacks. William Wheeler (The Hoax) and Ami Boghani have adapted the material for the screen and Lydia Dean Pilcher (The Darjeeling Limited, The Namesake) is producing the film.
