The track list for the soundtrack album of the coming-of-age drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower has been revealed. The album features one track from the film’s score composed by Michael Brook (The Fighter, Into the Wild), as well as the songs featured in the film by artists including The Samples, The Smiths, Cracker, Sonic Youth, Dexys Midnight Runners, The Innocence Mission and David Bowie. The soundtrack will be released on September 18, 2012 by Atlantic Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio clips. The Perks of Being a Wallflower is directed by Stephen Chbosky (Jericho) based on his own novel and stars Logan Lerman, Emma Watson, Ezra Miller, Paul Rudd, Kate Walsh, Nina Dobrev, Mae Whitman and Dylan McDermott. Adrian Johnston is scoring the upcoming BBC original series Dancing on the Edge. The five-part series is written and directed by Stephen Poliakoff (The Lost Prince, Shooting The Past) and stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Wunmi Mosaku, Angel Coulby and John Goodman. The dramatic comedy follows the Louis Lester Band as they find fame amongst the parties and performances of upper class society in the capital. Lionsgate Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the horror thriller The Possession. The album features the film’s original music composed by Anton Sanko (Rabbit Hole, Big Love). Bruce Hornsby to Score Spike Lee’s ‘Old Boy’

According to the LA Times, Bruce Hornsby is set to score Spike Lee’s upcoming English-language remake of Old Boy. The film is based on the critically acclaimed Korean film directed by Chan-wook Park. Josh Brolin is set to star as a man who is kidnapped and imprisoned for 15 years for unknown reasons and sets out to find out who held him hostage and why when he is inexplicably released. Elizabeth Olsen, Samuel L. Jackson and Sharlto Copley (District 9) are also attached to star in the Mandate Pictures production. Mark Protosevich (I Am Legend, The Cell) has written the script and is co-producing the project, while Roy Lee and Doug Davison (The Strangers, The Lake House) are producing. Four new movies are opening wide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the action film sequel The Expendables 2 directed by Simon West and starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Chuck Norris, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Liam Hemsworth, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Bruce Willis and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film’s music is composed by Brian Tyler who previously scored the 2010 original film. Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring Tyler’s music. Also opening wide is the stop-motion animated film ParaNorman directed by Sam Fell and Chris Butler and featuring the voice talent of Kodi Smit-McPhee, Casey Affleck, Tempestt Bledsoe, Jeff Garlin, John Goodman, Bernard Hill, Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann and Christopher Mintz-Plasse. Jon Brion has composed the film’s music. Relativity Music Group has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. Pale Blue Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for last year’s thriller The Entitled. The album features the film’s original score composed by Robert Duncan (Castle, Terriers, The Unit). Tyler Bates has been tapped to score the upcoming horror thriller 7500. The film is directed by Takashi Shimizu and stars Leslie Bibb, Ryan Kwanten, Amy Smart and Jamie Chung. The movie follows a group of passengers who encounter what appears to be a supernatural force while on a transpacific flight. Craig Rosenberg (The Uninvited, After the Sunset) has written the screenplay and Taka Ichise (Ring, The Grudge) and Roy Lee (The Strangers, The Lake House) are producing the project. ‘The Sweeney’ Soundtrack Announced

Rhino Records will be releasing a soundtrack album for the British crime drama The Sweeney. The album features the film’s original score composed by Lorne Balfe (Megamind, Ironclad), as well as two songs by Magnetic Man (featuring John Legend and Katy B). The soundtrack will be released in the UK on September 10, 2012 and is now available to pre-order as an import on Amazon. No word yet on a domestic release of the album. The Sweeney directed by Nick Love is based on the 1970s cult TV cop series and stars Ray Winstone and Ben Drew (aka Plan B) as two detectives in the Flying Squad, the London police unit dedicated to fighting armed robbery. Robert Duncan’s Submarine Scoring Session for ABC’s ‘Last Resort’

As reported earlier this year, 
Robert Duncan is scoring Shawn Ryan’s new ABC drama Last Resort, which follows the crew of a U.S. nuclear submarine who become hunted fugitives after ignoring an order to fire nuclear missiles. The composer recently went down in an actual submarine at San Diego’s Maritime Museum to collect some different sounds sources for the score. Duncan (Castle, The Unit, Terriers, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) has also just launched his new official website, where audio clips from the show’s score will be added soon. Last Resort stars Andre Braugher, Scott Speedman, Robert Patrick, Autumn Reeser, Max Adler, Daisy Betts and Dichen Lachman and Michael Campbell (Casino Royale, The Mask of Zorro) has directed the pilot episode.
