Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the U.S. version of the soundtrack album for Bong Joon-ho’s post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller Snowpiercer. The album features the film’s original music composed by Marco Beltrami (World War Z, The Wolverine, Scream, 3:10 to Yuma). The soundtrack will be released physically on July 22, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A soundtrack album featuring the same content was previously released exclusively in Asia. Check out our previous article for the full details. Snowpiercer stars Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Tilda Swinton, Ed Harris, Octavia Spencer, John Hurt, Allison Pill, Song Kang Ho and Ko Asung. The movie takes place after a failed global-warming experiment kills off most life on the planet and the final survivors board a train that travels around the globe via a perpetual-motion engine. The thriller will be released in select theaters on June 27, 2014 by the Weinstein Company’s Radius label.

Inon Zur to Score ‘Reclaim’
Inon Zur has been tapped to score the upcoming thriller Reclaim. The film is directed by Alan White (Broken, Erskineville Kings) and stars John Cusack, Ryan Phillippe, Rachelle Lefevre, Jacki Weaver and Luis Guzman. The movie is inspired by true events and follows an American couple who head to Puerto Rico to finalize the adoption of their new daughter, a Haitian orphan, who mysteriously vanishes from their hotel room. Luke Davies has written the screenplay based on an earlier version by Carmine Gaeta. Fredrik Malmberg and Silvio Muraglia are producing the Paradox Entertainment production with Brian and Josh Etting (Relative Strangers).
Soundtrack for Zach Braff’s ‘Wish I Was Here’ Announced
Columbia Records has announced a soundtrack album for Zach Braff’s indie comedy drama Wish I Was Here. The album features exclusive new songs from The Shins, Bon Iver and Cat Power + Coldplay. Also featured are tracks by Baldy Drawn Boy, Paul Simon, Gary Jules, Allie Moss & more. The soundtrack will be released digitally and physically on July 15, 2014. A special 12″ double gatefold, 180 gram vinyl version will be released on August 5. Click here to pre-order the vinyl version. Wish I Was Here is written and directed by Braff who also stars in the film alongside Kate Hudson, Joey King, Jim Parsons, Ashley Green, Mandy Patinkin and Josh Gad. The Kickstarter-funded movie scored by Rob Simonsen tells the story of a thirtysomething man who finds himself at major crossroads, which forces him to examine his life, his career, and his family. The dramedy premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival and will be released in theaters on July 18 by Focus Features.
Alexandre Desplat Takes Over Scoring Duties on ‘The Imitation Game’
Alexandre Desplat has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming drama The Imitation Game. The film is directed by Morten Tyldum (Headhunters) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Mark Strong, Matthew Goode and Charles Dance. The movie follows a British mathematician and cryptographer who helped crack the German enigma code during the final years of World War II and was later prosecuted by the British government in the early 1950s for being a homosexual. Graham Moore has written the script based on the book Alan Turing: The Enigma. Teddy Schwarzman (All Is Lost) is producing the project with Nora Grossman and Ido Ostrowsky.
‘Tammy’ Soundtrack Announced
WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for the comedy Tammy. The album features the film’s original music composed by Michael Andrews (Bridesmaids, Neighbors, Bad Teacher, Donnie Darko). Also included are two songs by Possum Creek. The soundtrack will be released on July 1, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Audio clips are available after the jump. Tammy is directed by Ben Falcone and stars Melissa McCarthy, Susan Sarandon, Allison Janney, Gary Cole, Mark Duplass, Dan Aykroyd, Kathy Bates, Toni Collette and Nat Faxon. The movie follows a woman who after losing her job and learning that her husband has been unfaithful, hits the road with her profane, hard-drinking grandmother. McCarthy has also co-written the screenplay with Falcone. The comedy will be released nationwide on July 2 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
‘I Origins’ Soundtrack Details
Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for Mike Cahill’s indie sci-fi drama I Origins. The album features the film’s original music composed by Will Bates and Phil Mossman who previously scored the director’s first feature Another Earth as part of Fall On Your Sword. Also included are tracks by Radiohead, The Do and Phaedeon Papadopoulus. The soundtrack will be released on July 15, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. I Origins is written and directed by Cahill and stars Michael Pitt, Brit Marling, Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, Steven Yeun and Archie Panjabi. The movie follows a molecular biologist studying the evolution of the eye who finds his work permeating his life after a brief encounter with an exotic young woman who slips away from him.
Patrick Wolf to Score Noel Coward Biopic
Variety is reporting that British singer/songwriter Patrick Wolf is attached to score a currently untitled feature about the early life of Noel Coward. The film is directed by Joe Stephenson and stars Chris Colfer as the English playwright, composer, director, actor and singer who was knighted in 1969. Ian McKellen, Vanessa Redgrave and Jonathan Pryce are currently in talks to co-star in the movie. Martin Sherman (Mrs Henderson Presents, Bent) has written the screenplay. Stephenson is also producing the B Good Picture Company production with Colin Vaines (Coriolanus, Julia Valentine, Jane Wright, Enfys Dickinson and Dan Pickering. The project marks Wolf’s first scoring assignment.

Premiering tonight in the U.S. is the BBC mini-series The Escape Artist created and written by David Wolstencroft and starring David Tennant, Toby Kebbell, Sophie Okonedo and Ashley Jensen. The drama’s music is composed by Nicholas Hooper (Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince). The two-parter about a talented junior barrister who specializes in spiriting people out of tight legal corners will air as part of PBS’ Masterpiece series tonight and on June 22. ‘The Case Against 8’ Soundtrack Released
Cow on the Wall Records has released a soundtrack album for the documentary The Case Against 8. The album features the film’s original music composed by Blake Neely (Arrow, Resurrection, The Mentalist, Life As We Know It). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. The Case Against 8 is directed by Ben Cotner & Ryan White and takes an inside look at the groundbreaking Supreme Court case that overturned Proposition 8, California’s ban on same-sex marriage. The documentary premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival where it won the Best Directing Award and was also shown at the SXSW Film Festival where it received the 2014 Audience Award. The movie was released in select theaters earlier this month and will air on June 23 on HBO.
Joel McNeely to Score Disney’s ‘Legend of the NeverBeast’
Joel McNeely is returning to score the next installment in DisneyToon Studios’ Tinker Bell series, Legend of the NeverBeast. The film is directed by Steve Loter (Kim Possible) and features the voices of Mae Whitman, Angela Bartys, Pamela Adlon, Lucy Liu, Megan Hilty, Raven-Symone and Lucy Hale. The movie follows the animal fairy Fawn who befriends a huge and mysterious creature known as the NeverBeast. McNeely has previously scored the first six movies of the Disney Fairies franchise, including the original Tinker Bell film, as well as Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue, Pixie Hollow Games, Secret of the Wings and this year’s The Pirate Fairy.
