Marco Beltrami revealed in a recent interview with Soundworks Collection that he is composing the music for the upcoming action thriller Hitman: Agent 47. The film is directed by Aleksander Bach and stars Rupert Friend, Hannah Ware, Zachary Quinto and Thomas Kretschmann. The movie is based on the bestselling Hitman video game and follows a young woman who teams up with Agent 47 in order to find her father and her true ancestry. Kyle Ward (Machete Kills), Skip Woods (X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Swordfish) and Michael Finch (Predators, The November Man) have written the screenplay. Alex Young (The A-Team, Unstoppable), Chuck Gordon (Die Hard 2, Waterworld, The Rocketeer) and Adrian Askarieh (Hitman) are producing the project.

‘Foxcatcher’ Soundtrack Details
Madison Gate Records has released a soundtrack album for the thriller Foxcatcher. The album features the film’s original music composed by Rob Simonsen (The Spectacular Now, The Way Way Back, (500) Days of Summer), as well as additional music composed by West Dylan Thordson and Academy Award winner Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote). Also included are the songs from the film by Bob Dylan and This Will Destroy You, as well as Arvo Pärt’s Für Alina. The soundtrack is now available to download on iTunes, where you can also listen to audio clips. Foxcatcher is directed by Bennett Miller and stars Steve Carell, Channing Tatum, Mark Ruffalo, Vanessa Redgrave, Sienna Miller, Anthony Michael Hall, Guy Boyd and Dave “Doc” Bennett.
Joseph Bishara to Return for ‘Insidious: Chapter 3’
Joseph Bishara has been tapped to score the upcoming horror prequel Insidious: Chapter 3. The film marks the directorial debut of writer/actor Leigh Whannell (Saw) who scripted the previous two movies in the series. The movie stars Dermot Mulroney, Stefanie Scott, Lin Shaye, Steve Coulter, Angus Sampson, Hayley Kiyoko, Ashton Moio, as well as Whannell himself. The film is set before the haunting of the Lambert family and reveals how Elise Rainier reluctantly agrees to use her ability to contact the dead in order to help a teenage girl who has been targeted by a dangerous supernatural entity. James Wan (The Conjuring, Furious 7) who directed the first two installments is producing the project with Jason Blum (Whiplash, The Purge) for Blumhouse Productions and Oren Peli (Paranormal Activity).
Bruce Broughton’s ‘The Presidio’ Score Released
Intrada Records has announced the world premiere commercial soundtrack release for the 1988 crime thriler The Presidio directed by Peter Hyams and starring Sean Connery, Mark Harmon and Meg Ryan. The album features the film’s original music composed and conducted by Bruce Broughton (Silverado, Tombstone, Young Sherlock Holmes, Lost in Space). The soundtrack for the Paramount Pictures production includes the complete score, as well as several alternate cues. Matthew Margeson Scoring ‘Scouts vs. Zombies’
Matthew Margeson is scoring the upcoming horror comedy Scouts vs. Zombies. The film is directed by Christopher Landon (Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones) and stars Tye Sheridan, Logan Miller,Joey Morgan, Sarah Dumont, David Koechner, Cloris Leachman, Halston Sage and Patrick Schwarzenegger. The movie follows three scouts who, on the eve of their last camp out, discover the true meaning of friendship when they attempt to save their town from a zombie outbreak. Landon has also written the screenplay based on Lona Williams’ (Drop Dead Gorgeous) and Etan Cohen’s (Tropic Thunder) draft of an original script from Emi Mochizuki & Carrie Evans (College Road Trip).
‘Into the Woods’ Soundtrack Details
The details have been revealed of the soundtrack albums for the film adaptation of the musical Into the Woods. Walt Disney Records will release a regular and deluxe edition soundtrack featuring the songs from the film composed by Stephen Sondheim. Both albums will be released on December 16, 2014. The regular edition is available for pre-order on Amazon and the deluxe edition can be pre-ordered here. Into the Woods is directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago) and stars Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, James Corden, Anna Kendrick, Chris Pine, Tracey Ullman, Christine Baranski and Johnny Depp. The musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, and Rapunzel.

Premiering tonight in the U.S. is the second part of the Worricker trilogy, Turks & Caicos directed by David Hare and starring Bill Nighy as MI5 spy Johnny Worricker, alongside Christopher Walken, Winona Ryder, Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes. The film’s original music is composed by Paul Englishby (An Englishby, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) who previously scored Hare’s Page Eight. The composer also scored the final part in the trilogy, Salting the Battlefield. ‘Rosewater’ Soundtrack Details
Howe Records will release a soundtrack album for Jon Stewart’s drama Rosewater. The album features the film’s original music composed by Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Aviator, The Silence of the Lambs). Also included are tracks by Leonard Cohen, as well as Persian musicians Mahdyar Aghajani and 25 Band. The soundtrack will be released digitally on November 11, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is set to be released on December 9 and can be pre-ordered here. The movie is based on the New York Times best-selling memoir Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity, and Survival by BBC journalist Maziar Bahari and tells the story of Bahari’s imprisonment in Tehran in 2009 and his interrogation at the hands of a man he knew only as Rosewater.
Mica Levi Wins European Film Award for ‘Under the Skin’
Mica Levi has been named European Composer 2014 by the European Film Academy for her score to Jonathan Glazer’s Under the Skin starring Scarlett Johansson. For the second time in the history of the awards, a winner in the music category (as well as 5 other categories) has been announced before the awards ceremony following a decision of the Academy Board to draw more attention to the awards recipients in these categories. Levi who is best known as a singer/songwriter for her band Micachu & The Shapes has made her film scoring debut on the film. Previous composers that were honored with the award include Alberto Iglesias, Alexandre Desplat, Ennio Morricone, Ludovic Bource and Bruno Coulais.
‘Song of the Sea’ Soundtrack Details
Decca Records will release a soundtrack album for the animated feature Song of the Sea. The album features the film’s original music composed by Bruno Coulais (Coraline, The Chorus) who previously scored the director’s Academy Award-nominated feature The Secret of Kells. The composer collaborated with Kila on the score. Also featured are the songs from the movie by Nolwenn Leroy. The soundtrack will be released digitally on December 9, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips.
