Hollywood Records will release a soundtrack album for Gore Verbinski’s upcoming western The Lone Ranger. The album features songs inspired by the film by artists including Ben Kweller, Iggy Pop, Shane MacGowan, Lucinda Williams, The White Buffalo, The Rubens, John Grant, Sara Watkins, Pete Molinari and Gomez. The soundtrack will be released on July 2, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. As previously reported, a separate album featuring the movie’s score composed by Hans Zimmer will also be released. Since our last update, it has been announced that Intrada Records will release a physical version, while the album will come out digitally by Walt Disney Records. James Horner’s Complete ‘Clear and Present Danger’ Score Released

Intrada Records has announced the world premiere release of the complete score for the 1994 thriller Clear and Present Danger based on Tom Clancy’s novel, directed by Phillip Noyce and starring Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan. The album features the film’s music composed and conducted by Academy Award-winning composer James Horner. The previous original soundtrack release only included half of the composer’s score for the Paramount Pictures production. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album for Todd Phillips’ The Hangover trilogy. The album features selections from the scores of all three movies in the hit comedy series composed by Christophe Beck (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Red, The Muppets). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon. A physical version will be released on June 25, 2013 by Varese Sarabande Records and is available for pre-order here. Christopher Gunning Scoring ‘Grace of Monaco’

Christopher Gunning is composing the score for the upcoming biographical drama Grace of Monaco. The film is directed by Olivier Dahan and stars Nicole Kidman as Grace Kelly and Tim Roth as her husband, Prince Rainier III. Frank Langella, Paz Vega, Parker Posey, Derek Jacobi and Milo Ventimiglia are co-starring.The movie is set in 1962 and centers on the Oscar-nominated actress as she is being called upon to save Monaco from a crisis over its standing as a tax haven after it was given six months to reform the nation’s tax laws by French leader Charles de Gaulle. Arash Amel (Erased) wrote the screenplay and is also producing the project with Pierre-Ange Le Pogam (Colombiana, Hitman) for Stone Angels and Uday Chopra for YRF Entertainment. Premiering tomorrow, June 10 is the new TNT drama King & Maxwell based on the bestselling series of books by author David Baldacci, developed for television by Shane Brennan (NCIS: Los Angeles) and starring Jon Tenney, Rebecca Romijn, Michael O’Keefe, Chris Butler and Ryan Hurst. The show follows two disgraced Secret Service agents who start their own private investigative firm. Eric Colvin (Monte Walsh) is composing the original score for the drama. Brennan is producing the CBS Television Studios production with Grant Anderson (Third Watch) and Chris Downey (Leverage). King & Maxwell will air every Monday night on TNT. ‘Summer in February’ Soundtrack Announced

UPDATE January 2014: The soundtrack has been released in the U.S. by Deutsche Grammophon and is available to order on Amazon.
Decca Records will release a soundtrack album for the British period drama Summer in February. The album includes the film’s original score composed by Benjamin Wallfisch (The Escapist, Conquest 1493) featuring piano solos by Yuja Wang. The soundtrack will be released in the UK on June 24, 2013 and is now available for pre-order as an import on Amazon. Summer in February is directed by Christopher Menaul and stars Dominic Cooper, Emily Browning, Dan Stevens and Hattie Morahan. The drama based on Jonathan Smith’s novel about love and loss among a bohemian colony of artists which flourished in the wild coastal region of Cornwall before the First World War will be released in the UK on June 14. Sparks & Shadows will release a soundtrack album for Syfy’s original series Defiance. The album features selections from the show’s original music composed by Bear McCreary (Battlestar Galactica, The Walking Dead). Also included are four songs by the indie rock/pop band Young Beautiful in a Hurry. The soundtrack will be released digitally on June 17, 2013 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Two new movies are opening in wide release this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the horror thriller The Purge directed by James DeMonaco, produced by Michael Bay and Jason Blum and starring Ethan Hawke and Lena Headey. The film’s original score is composed by Nathan Whitehead. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this week. Also opening wide is the comedy The Internship directed by Shawn Levy and starring Vince Vaughn, Owen Wilson, Rose Byrne and Max Minghella. Christophe Beck (The Hangover, The Muppets) who has previously collaborated with Levy on such films as Cheaper by the Dozen, The Pink Panther and Date Night has composed the film’s original score. No soundtrack album has been announced at this point. The comedy follows two salesmen whose careers have been torpedoed by the digital world and who talk their way into a coveted internship at Google. Patrick Doyle is attached to score Disney’s upcoming live-action reimagining of Cinderella. Lily James (Downton Abbey) is set to star in the title role and Cate Blanchett is playing the evil stepmother. Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) has been cast as Prince Charming. Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada) and Chris Weitz (About a Boy) are writing the screenplay based on the classic fairy tale. Tim Minchin to Score DreamWorks Animation’s ‘Larrikins’

Tim Minchin has been tapped to score DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming feature Larrikins. The film is based on an original idea written by Harry Cripps (Supernova) and tells the story of an uptight bilby (a desert-dwelling marsupial), who has lived a sheltered life in the safety of his family burrow. When he ventures out and becomes privy to a dangerous secret, he finds himself launched on a musical adventure across the mystical and untamed Australian outback. Christina Steinberg (Rise of the Guardians, National Treasure) is producing the project. DreamWorks has announced that Minchin will likely take on a larger creative role in addition to writing the music and lyrics for the film. Minchin is best known for co-writing Matilda the Musical which was awarded a 2012 Olivier Award for Best New Musical and is currently nominated for 12 Tony Awards including Best Musical Score. Larrikins marks the Australian comedian/musician’s first major studio film project. No release date has been announced yet.
