Brian Tyler has signed on to score Marvel Studios’ upcoming superhero sequel Thor: The Dark World. The film is directed by Alan Taylor (Game of Thrones) and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Stellan Skarsgård, Idris Elba, Christopher Eccleston, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Zachary Levi, Tadanobu Asano, Jaimie Alexander, Rene Russo and Anthony Hopkins. The movie takes place in the aftermath of The Avengers and follows Thor as he battles to save all the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy older than the universe itself. The cover art of the soundtrack album for Guillermo del Toro’s upcoming sci-fi monster movie Pacific Rim has been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Ramin Djawadi (Game of Thrones, Clash of the Titans). The soundtrack is now scheduled to be released digitally on June 25, 2013 by WaterTower Music and is available for pre-order on Amazon. According to the film’s first full trailer, Ilan Eshkeri is the composer of the upcoming British comedy Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa. The film is directed by Declan Lowne and and stars Steve Coogan in the title role, alongside Colm Meaney, Sean Pertwee, Anna Maxwell Martin, Nigel Lindsay, Felicity Montagu, Simon Greenall and Phil Cornwell. The movie follows the fictional radio and television presenter as he tries to salvage his public career while negotiating a potentially violent turn of events at North Norfolk Digital Radio. Coogan co-wrote the screenplay with Peter Baynham (Borat, Hotel Transylvania), Armando Iannucci (In the Loop, Veep), Neil and Rob Gibbons co-wrote the screenplay and Kevin Loader (Hyde Park on Hudson, Captain Corelli’s Mandolin) and Henry Normal are producing the project. Rachel Portman is scoring the upcoming biographical drama Diana. The film is directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel (Downfall, The Experiment) and stars Naomi Watts in the title role alongside Naveen Andrews who portrays the heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan. The film centers on the last two years of Princess Diana’s life and the secret love affair she had shortly before her tragic death. Douglas Hodge, Geraldine James, Charles Edwards and Juliet Stevenson are co-starring. Stephen Jeffreys (The Libertine) wrote the screenplay and Robert Bernstein & Douglas Rae (Becoming Jane, The Water Horse, Nowhere Boy) are producing the project for Ecosse Films. ‘World War Z’ Remixes EP Announced

Warner Bros. Records will release an EP for the zombie thriller World War Z featuring remixes of the film’s original score by Marco Beltrami. The release features four remixes by Mystery Skulls, Justin Warfield, Future Funk Squad and BLKHRTS. The EP will be released tomorrow, June 18 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label will also release a soundtrack album featuring Beltrami’s score. Check out our previous article for the album details. Jeff Cardoni has been tapped to score the upcoming NBC comedy The Michael J. Fox Show. The shows stars Fox as a news anchor who had to give up his career after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease to focus on his health and his family. Five years later, he decides to get back to work and struggles between family and career. Betsy Brandt, Conor Romero, Juliette Goglia, Jack Gore, Katie Finneran and Wendell Pierce are co-starring. Fox is also executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production with Sam Laybourne (Cougar Town) and Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends with Benefits) who also directed the pilot episode. ‘The Wolverine’ Soundtrack Details

Sony Classical will release the official soundtrack album for the comic book adaptation The Wolverine. The album features the film’s original score composed by Marco Beltrami (3:10 to Yuma, Scream, World War Z). The Wolverine is directed by James Mangold (Walk the Line) and stars Hugh Jackman in the title role. Two new movies are opening wide this week:
Opening in most theaters is the Superman reboot Man of Steel directed by Zack Snyder and starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Michael Shannon, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Laurence Fishburne, Antje Traue, Ayelet Zurer, Christopher Meloni and Russell Crowe. The film’s music is composed by Hans Zimmer. WaterTower Music has released two different soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s music earlier this week. RCA Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the songs from the film, including the original track Take Yo Panties Off by Snoop Dogg & Craig Robinson, as well as tracks by Cypress Hill, Whitney Houston, Funkadelic, Backstreet Boys, Norman Greenbaum, J-Kwon, K.Flay and a track from James Franco’s band Daddy. Varese Sarabande to Release Soundtracks for ‘Elysium’ and ‘White House Down’

According to the film’s latest poster, Varese Sarabande will release the soundtrack album for the upcoming sci-fi action drama Elysium. The album features the film’s original score composed by Ryan Amon who makes his feature scoring debut on the project and has previously written the music for numerous trailers through his motion picture advertising company, City of the Fallen. Elysium is written and directed by Neil Blomkamp (District 9) and stars Matt Damon, Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, Alice Braga, William Fichtner, Diego Luna and Carly Pope. The film is set on a space station occupied by the very wealthy while the rest of humanity lives on a ravaged, overpopulated Earth. The movie will be released nationwide on August 9 by Sony Pictures. Premiering tomorrow, June 17 is the HBO documentary Love, Marilyn written and directed by Liz Garbus. The movie visits seminal moments and relationships that shaped Marilyn Monroe’s career and tumultuous personal life and features interviews with Elizabeth Banks, Adrien Brody, Ellen Burstyn, Glenn Close, Hope Davis, Viola Davis, Jennifer Ehle, Ben Foster, Paul Giamatti, Jack Huston, Stephen Lang, Lindsay Lohan, Janet McTeer, Jeremy Piven, Oliver Platt, David Strathairn, Lili Taylor, Uma Thurman, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood. Philip Sheppard (The Tillman Story) who previously scored Garbus’ Bobby Fischer Against the World has composed the film’s original score. Love, Marilyn premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival and will air tomorrow night on HBO.
