Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

imageOpening in most theaters is the action sequel The Expendables 3 directed by Patrick Hughes and starring Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Dolph Lundgren, Kelsey Grammer, and Arnold Schwarzenegger. The film’s music is composed by Brian Tyler (Iron Man 3, Fast & Furious, Thor: The Dark World) who previously scored the first two installments in the series. Lionsgate Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score earlier this werk and La-La Land Records will release a CD version later this month. Silva Screen Records is handling distribution of the soundtrack overseas. Check out our previous news article for the full album details.

imageAlso opening wide is the sci-fi drama The Giver directed by Phillip Noyce and starring Brenton Thwaites, Odeya Rush, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard, Taylor Swift, Cameron Monaghan, Emma Tremblay and Katie Holmes. Marco Beltrami (Scream, World War Z) has composed the film’s original score. Sony Classical has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s music. ‘A Walk Among the Tombstones’ Soundtrack Announced

walk-among-the-tombstonesVarese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the thriller A Walk Among the Tombstones. The album features the film’s original music composed by Carlos Rafael Rivera. The soundtrack will be released physically on September 23, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.  Check back on this page for audio clips. A Walk Among the Tombstones is written and directed by Scott Frank (The Lookout) and stars Liam Neeson, Dan Stevens, David Harbour and Boyd Holbrook. The movie is based on Lawrence Block’s bestselling series of mystery novels and follows an ex-NYPD cop who now works as an unlicensed private investigator operating just outside the law. ‘Life of Crime’ Soundtrack Details

life-of-crimeVarese Sarabande will release a soundtrack album for the caper comedy Life of of Crime. The album features the film’s original music composed by The Newton Brothers (Oculus, Detachment, High School, Pawn Shop Chronicles). Also included is an instrumental version of Hearts on Ice by Jordan Galland. The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 25, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Life of Crime is directed by Daniel Schechter and stars Jennifer Aniston, yasiin bey, Mark Boone Junior, Isla Fisher, Will Forte, Tim Robbins and John Hawkes. The movie is based on Elmore Leonard’s novel The Switch and follows the wife of a corrupt real estate developer who is kidnapped by two common criminals who intend to extort him with inside information about his crooked business and off-shore accounts. 2014 Hollywood Music in Media Awards Schedule Announced

hmmaThe schedule for this year’s Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMAs) has been announced. The 5th edition of the event, which recognizes and honors music of visual mediums and the individuals who create, produce and place compositions in the medium, will take place on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at The Fonda Theater in Hollywood. The 2014 HMMAs welcome back celebrity hosts including Academy Award-nominated actor Eric Roberts, former Matchbox 20 member Adam Gaynor, writer/director/producer Andy Fickman and Earh, Wind & Fire’s Verdine White. ‘Houdini’ Soundtrack Details

The album features the original music from the series composed by Academy Award nominee John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, Iron Man 2, Elf). Sebastian Arocha has composed additional music. boychoirBrian Byrne is scoring the upcoming drama Boychoir. The film is directed by François Girard and stars Dustin Hoffman, Kathy Bates, Josh Lucas, Kevin McHale, Eddie Izzard, Debra Winger and Garrett Wareing. The movie follows an orphaned 12-year-old boy who is sent to a prestigious music school where he struggles to join an elite group of world-class singers and clashes with the school’s demanding choir master. Ben Ripley (Source Code0 has written the script. ‘The Identical’ Soundtrack Announced

identicalCity of Peace Media and Capitol Christian Distribution will release a soundtrack album for the drama The Identical. The album features songs from the film performed by lead actor Blake Rayne, as well as songs by The Morph Kings and Darcey & Mo. Also included are selections of the movie’s original score composed by Klaus Badelt (Pirates of the Caribbean, The Time Machine, Rescue Dawn) and Christopher Carmichael. The soundtrack will be released on September 2, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The Identical  is directed by Dustin Marcellino and stars Erin Cottrell, Amanda Crew, Brian Geraghty, Seth Green, Ashley Judd, Joe Pantoliano, Blake Rayne, and Ray Liotta. Christophe Beck Scoring Daniel Barnz’s ‘Cake’

cakeChristophe Beck has composed the music for the upcoming drama Cake. The film is directed by Daniel Barnz and stars Jennifer Aniston, Anna Kendrick, William H. Macy, Adriana Barraza, Felicity Huffman, Sam Worthington, Chris Messina and Mamie Gummer. The movie follows a woman in a chronic-pain support group who begins to investigate the suicide of a fellow group member and develops an unexpected relationship with the woman’s husband. Patrick Tobin has written the screenplay. Ben Barnz, Mark Canton, Kristin Hahn, Courtney Solomon are producing the Cinelou Films production. ‘Trust Me’ Soundtrack Details

imageLakeshore Records will release a soundtrack album for Clark Gregg’s indie comedy Trust Me. The album features the film’s original music composed by Mark Kilian (Tsotsi, Pitch Perfect, Rendition, Traitor). The soundtrack will be released digitally on August 26, 2014. A CD version will come out on October 7 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Trust Me is written and directed by Gregg who also stars in the film alongside Felicity Huffman, Allison Janney, William H. Macy, Amanda Peet, Sam Rockwell, Molly Shannon, Niecy Nash, Saxon Sharbino and Paul Sparks. The movie follows a loser talent agent who is determined to achieve Hollywood success with a 13-year-old star he has discovered. Ludovico Einaudi to Score Olivier Nakache’s & Eric Toledano’s ‘Samba’

sambaLudovico Einaudi is reteaming with directors Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano on the upcoming French drama Samba. The film stars Omar Sy, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Tahar Rahim and Izia Higelin. The movie follows a recent migrant to France who fights to stay in his adopted country with the help of a rookie immigration worker. Nackache & Toleedano have also written the screenplay. Yann Zenou, Laurent Zeitoun & Nicolas Duval-Adassovsky (Heartbreaker, A Perfect Plan) are producing the Quad Films, Ten Films and Gaumont production. Einaudi has previously scored the filmmakers’ previous feature The Intouchables, which became one of the all time highest-grossing movies in France in 2011. Samba is set to world premiere at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
