Howe Records has released a single featuring a track from the soundtrack for David Cronenberg’s drama Maps to the Stars. The film’s music is composed by the director’s regular musical collaborator Howard Shore (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Silence of the Lambs, The Departed). The single is now available to download on Amazon. Check out an audio clips from the track after the jump. A full soundtrack album is scheduled to be released this fall. Maps to the Stars starring Julianne Moore, John Cusack, Mia Wasikowska, Robert Pattinson, Olivia Williams, Evan Bird and Sarah Gadon. The drama tells the story of an archetypical Hollywood dynasty, including a psychotherapist, who has made a fortune with his self-help manuals; his wife who manages the career of their thirteen-year-old child star son; and their daughter who has recently been released from a sanatorium where she was admitted for the treatment of criminal pyromania. The film is written and directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner (Sarah’s Key, Walled In) and stars Charlize Theron, Chloe Grace Moretz, Nicholas Hoult, Christina Hendricks, Corey Stoll, Tye Sheridan. Drea DeMatteo, Andrea Roth and Sterling Jerins. The movie is based on a novel by Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl) and follows a woman who survived the massacre of her family as a young girl and testified against her brother. 25 years later, she is confronted by a secret society obsessed with solving notorious crimes. Sony Masterworks to Release Soundtrack Album for FX’s ‘Fargo’

Sony Masterworks will release a soundtrack album for the FX original series Fargo. The album features the selections from the show’s original music composed by Jeff Russo (Necessary Roughness, Hostages, About Cherry). The soundtrack will be released on July 1, 2014 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Check back on this page for the full album details. Fargo is created by Noah Hawley inspired by the 1996 film by Joel & Ethan Coen who serve as executive producers on the series. La-La Land Records has released a remastered and expanded soundtrack album for the 1997 action thriller The Peacemaker directed by Mimi Leder and starring George Clooney & Nicole Kidman. The music for the DreamWorks Pictures production is composed by Hans Zimmer (Gladiator, The Dark Knight, The Lion King, Inception). The 2-CD set features over 150 minutes of music, including such bonus cues as original album edits and the original trailer music. Harry Escott is reteaming with director Michael Winterbottom on the upcoming drama The Face of an Angel. The movie stars Daniel Bruhl, Kate Beckinsale, Cara Delevingne, Valerio Mastandre, Rosie Fellner, Alistair Petrie and The film follows a troubled filmmaker who is researching a sensational murder trial in Italy. As he sees the victim forgotten in the media frenzy, he is inspired to reconnect with his own daughter. Paul Viragh (Ashes, Sex & Drugs & Rock & Roll) has written the screenplay based on the book Angel Face about the Amanda Knox trial by Barbie Latza Nadeau. Melissa Parmenter (The Trip, The Look of Love) is producing the BBC Films production. Ennio Morricone U.S. Concerts Canceled

Variety is reporting that Ennio Morricone‘s concerts in Los Angeles and New York that were set to take place on June 13 & 15, 2014 due to the composer’s “serious health issues”. The events were originally set for this past March, but were postponed due to a back injury as reported earlier this year. The concert at LA Live’s NOKIA Center would have marked Morricone’s first-ever live performance in Los Angeles. The composer of such films as The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, The Mission, Once Upon a Time in America, The Untouchables and Cinema Paradiso has previously only performed in the U.S. once at a 2007 New York event.
