Heitor Pereira has been hired to score the upcoming animated feature The Nut Job 2. The film is directed by Cal Brunker (Escape From Planet Earth) and features the voices of Will Arnett, Katherine Heigl, Maya Rudolph, Gabriel Iglesias and Jeff Dunham who reprise their characters from the original movie. The sequel follows Surly Squirrel and his ragtag group of animal friends band as they come together to defeat the evil mayor of Oaktown who decides to bulldoze Liberty Park and build a dangerous amusement park in its place. The movie follows an estranged family forced to come together for their first Christmas since the death of the family matriarch. The full details of the soundtrack album for the comedy Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping have been announced. Lakeshore Records will release two new soundtrack albums for the Netflix original series Narcos. The albums feature the songs from the show by artists including A Taste of Honey, Pedro Laza y sus Pelayeros, Soffi Martinez, Los Pamperos, Son de Loma, Los Diplomaticos, Son Palenque, Los Golden Boys, Carlos Arturo & more. La-La Land Records has announced a new remastered and expanded soundtrack release for the 1994 drama The Shawshank Redemption directed by Frank Darabont and starring Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. The album features the Academy Award-nominated original music from the film composed and conducted by Thomas Newman (American Beauty, Finding Nemo, Skyfall, The Green Mile, Erin Brockovich), including almost an hour of previously unreleased music. Johann Johannsson Scoring James Marsh’s ‘Deep Water’

Johann Johannsson is reuniting with director James Marsh on the upcoming drama Deep Water. The film stars Colin Firth as fated amateur yachtsman Donald Crowhurst, alongside Rachel Weisz, David Thewlis, Ken Stott, and Jonathan Bailey. The movie chronicles Crowhurst’s attempt to complete the Sunday Times Golden Globe Race in 1968 and his subsequent attempts to cover up his failure. Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum, Contagion) has written the screenplay and is also producing the project with Pete Czernin and Graham Broadbent (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, In Bruges). The album features the film’s original music composed by Alex Somers who previously co-scored the features Aloha and All the Wilderness, as well as the first season of Manhattan with Sigur Rós’ Jónsi. Sony Classical will release Danny Elfman‘s music for the ballet Rabbit & Rogue. The composer of such films as Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Avengers: Age of Ultron and Men in Black composed the score for the American Ballet Theatre. The ballet premiered in June 2008 at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York and was recorded for a CD release in 2014. A.R. Rahman is composing the music for the upcoming period drama Viceroy’s House. The film is directed by Gurinder Chadha (Bend It Like Beckham) and stars Hugh Bonneville, Gillian Anderson, Simon Callow, Lily Travers, Michael Gambon, Manish Dayal, Huma Qureshi, Om Puri, Tanveer Ghani, Denzil Smith and Neeraj Kabi. The movie chronicles the life inside Viceroy’s House, the sumptuous Delhi home of the British rulers of India, and the momentous political decisions that led to the Partition of India in 1947.
