Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

gods-of-egyptOpening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure Gods of Egypt directed by Alex Proyas and starring Gerard Butler, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Chadwick Boseman, Elodie Young, Courtney Eaton and Brenton Thwaites. The  film’s original music is composed by Marco Beltrami (Scream, 3:10 to Yuma, The Wolverine, The Hurt Locker). Varese Sarabande has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. eddie-the-eagleAlso opening wide is the sports comedy drama Eddie the Eagle directed by Dexter Fletcher and starring Taron Egerton, Christopher Walken, Hugh Jackman, Jo Hartley, Tim McInnerny and Ania Sowinski. Matthew Margeson (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kick-Ass 2) has composed the film’s original score. Ennio Morricone Honored at Walk of Fame Ceremony

morricone-starEarlier today, Ennio Morricone received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The 87-year old composer was joined by director Quentin Tarantino, producer Harvey Weinstein and Los Angeles Italia Film Fashion and Art Fest founder Pascal Vicedomini. Check out a video of the full ceremony, which features speeches by Tarantino and Weinstein before the composer addresses the audience, after the jump. ‘Cabin Fever’ Soundtrack Details

cabin-feverSumthing Else Music Works will release a soundtrack album this year’s Cabin Fever remake. The album features the film’s original music composed by Kevin Riepl (Batman Unlimited, Silent Night, The Night Crew) who previously scored 2014’s Cabin Fever: Patient Zero. The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 1, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Cabin Fever is directed by Travis Zariwny, executive produced by Eli Roth and stars Gage Golightly, Matthew Daddario, Nadine Crocker, Dustin Ingram, Samuel Davis and Randy Schulman. Heather McIntosh Scoring ‘Rainbow Time’

rainbow-timeHeather McIntosh is composing the music for the upcoming indie comedy drama Rainbow Time. The film is written and directed by Linas Phillips and stars himself, alongside Melanie Lynskey, Timm Sharp, Tobin Bell, Lauren Weedman, Artemis Pebdani, Jay Duplass, Reagan Yates, Austin Fryberger and Robert Longstreet. The movie revolves around a developmentally delayed 40 year old man who is sent to live with his brother. Ian Michaels is producing the project. Mark & Jay Duplass (Cyrus, Jeff Who Lives at Home) serve as executive producers. ‘Fargo’ Season 2 Score Album Details

fargo-2The details of the score soundtrack album for Year 2 of the FX original series Fargo have been revealed. The album features selections from the original music for the show’s second season composed by Jeff Russo (Power, Tut, CSI: Cyber, The Returned). The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 25, 2016 by Sony Classical and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. As previously reported, the label will also release a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the show’s second season on the same day. Sony Classical has previously also released a soundtrack featuring Russo’s music from the first season. Fargo Season 2 is created by Noah Hawley and stars Kirsten Dunst, Patrick Wilson, Jesse Plemons, Jean Smart and Ted Danson. Read the rest of this entry »

Soundtrack Details for Fox’s ‘The Passion: New Orleans’

The album features the music from the live musical performed by the cast including Yolanda Adams, Seal, Chris Daughtry, Trisha Yearwood, Prince Royce and Jencarlos who are performing contemporary hit songs such as My Love Is Your Love, When Love Takes Over, Love Can Move Mountains & more.  Adam Anders (Glee, Rock of Ages) serves as the project’s music producer. The soundtrack will be released on March 18, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. sword-of-destinySony Classical will release a soundtrack album for the Netflix original movie Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny. The album features the film’s original music composed by Shigeru Umebayashi (House of Flying Daggers, In the Mood for Love, Curse of the Golden Flower, 2046). Pianist Lang Lang is featured as a soloist on the score. Also included is the original end credits song Eternal Breath co-written by the composer. The soundtrack will be released physically next month and digitally on March 11, 2016. Visit Amazon to pre-order the album. Jeff Cardoni to Score ‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates’

The film is directed by Jake Szymanski and stars Zac Efron, Anna Kendrick, Adam Devine, Aubrey Plaza and Stephen Root. The movie follows two hard-partying brothers who place an online ad to find the perfect dates for their sister’s Hawaiian wedding and find themselves out-hustled by the uncontrollable duo. Andrew Jay Cohen & Brendan O’Brien (Neighbors) have written the screenplay. Peter Chernin (Rise/Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, Oblivion), Jenno Topping (Spy, The Heat, St. Vincent)) and Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies, 50/50, The Night Before) are producing the project. ‘Fuller House’ Theme Song to Be Released

The song is a cover version of the theme from the original Full House show, Everywhere You Look and is performed by singer Carly Rae Jespen, produced by Butch Walker and written by the comedy’s composers Jesse Frederick and Bennett Salvay . The track will be released as a single tomorrow, February 26 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. precious-cargoJames Edward Barker and Tim Despic have recently composed the music for the upcoming action thriller Precious Cargo. The film is directed by Max Adams and stars Bruce Willis, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Claire Forlani, Daniel Bernhardt, Nick Loeb, Lydia Hull, John Brotherton, Tyler Jon Olson, Sammi Barber and Jenna Kelly. The movie follows a crime boss trying to score the profits from another crook’s heist. Adams has also written the screenplay with Paul Seetachit. The composer is also producing the movie with Randall Emmett, Norton Herrick & George Furla (Lone Survivor, 2 Guns) and Scott Mann (The Tournament).
