The film is written and directed by Shana Feste (Country Strong, Endless Love, The Greatest) and stars Vera Farmiga, Christopher Plummer, Lewis MacDougall, Bobby Cannavale, Kristen Schaal, Peter Fonda, Christopher Lloyd and Dolly Wells. Justin Hurwitz Wins Oscar for ‘La La Land’

Justin Hurwitz has received the Academy Award for his score for Damien Chazelle’s La La Land. The other nominated composers in the Best Original Score category were Mica Levi (Jackie), Dustin O’Halloran & Hauschka (Lion), Nicholas Britell (Moonlight) and Thomas Newman (Passengers). Hurwitz also received a second Oscar for the original song City of Stars from the movie musical and shared the honor with lyricists Justin Paul and Benj Pasek.
Danny Elfman to Receive Max Steiner Award

It was announced today that Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Nightmare Before Christmas, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Alice in Wonderland) is the recipient of this year’s Max Steiner Film Music Achievement Award, which will be presented at the annual Hollywood in Vienna Concert Gala at Vienna Concert Hall on September 29, 2017. The composer will be accepting the award in person and is also expected to perform one of his songs. Premiering tomorrow, February 27, is the ABC mini-series When We Rise created by Dustin Lance Black and starring Guy Pearce, Mary-Louise Parker, Rachel Griffiths, Michael K. Williams and Ivory Aquino. The show’s themes and music are composed by Danny Elfman (Spider-Man, Batman, Alice in Wonderland) and Chris Bacon (Source Code, Bates Motel). Hollywood Records has released a soundtrack album featuring a suite from the composers’ score, as well as songs by Jordan Fisher, Fancy, Brandi Carlile and Zella Day. West (Short Term 12, Grandma, About Alex, Band of Robbers). The soundtrack is now available to download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Youth in Oregon is directed by Joel David Moore and stars Frank Langella, Billy Crudup, Christina Applegate, Mary Kay Place, Josh Lucas, Nicola Peltz and Alex Shaffer. Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Expected to top the weekend box office is the thriller Get Out written and directed by Jordan Peele and starring Daniel Kaluuya, Allison Williams, Bradley Whitford, Caleb Landry Jones and Catherine Keener. The film’s original music is composed by Michael Abels. Back Lot Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score. The Television Academy announced a number of changes to the Emmy Awards structure today, including a new category for Outstanding Music Supervision. The category will be introduced at this year’s 69th Emmy Awards. ‘Hand of God’ Season 2 Soundtrack Details

Amazon Content Services will release a new soundtrack album for the Amazon original series Hand of God. The album features the songs from the show’s second season by Holly Marilyn Solem. The soundtrack will be released digitally on March 10, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released a soundtrack featuring the singer/songwriter’s songs from the first season of the drama. Hand of God is created by Ben Watkins and stars Ron Perlman, Dana Delany, Garret Dillahunt, Andre Royo, Alona Tal, Julian Morris, Elizabeth McLaughlin and Hunter Parrish. The show, which follows a corrupt judge who suffers a breakdown and believes God is compelling him onto a path of vigilante justice, will return for its second and final season on March 10. Big Machine Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the CMT original series Nashville. The album features the songs from the first half of the show’s fifth season performed by cast members including Connie Britton, Hayden Panettiere, Charles Esten, Clare Bowen, Sam Palladio, Jonathan Jackson, Chris Carmack and Lennon & Maisy. The soundtrack will be released on March 10, 2017.
