Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:
Opening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure Pete’s Dragon directed by David Lowery and starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford. The film’s original music is composed by Daniel Hart (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Comet, Tumbleweed). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie by Bonnie “Prince” Billy, The Lumineers, Lindsey Stirling feat. Also opening wide is the animated comedy Sausage Party directed by Conrad Vernon & Greg Tiernan and starring Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd and Nick Kroll. Alan Menken (Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin) and Christopher Lennertz (Ride Along, Horrible Bosses) have composed the film’s original score. Menken has also contributed the original song The Great Beyond (with lyrics by Glenn Slater and the screenwriters).
