Three new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

petes-dragonOpening in most theaters is the fantasy adventure Pete’s Dragon directed by David Lowery and starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Oakes Fegley, Wes Bentley, Karl Urban, Oona Laurence and Robert Redford. The film’s original music is composed by Daniel Hart (Ain’t Them Bodies Saints, Comet, Tumbleweed). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score, as well as the songs from the movie by Bonnie “Prince” Billy, The Lumineers, Lindsey Stirling feat. sausage-partyAlso opening wide is the animated comedy Sausage Party directed by Conrad Vernon & Greg Tiernan and starring Seth Rogen, Kristen Wiig, Jonah Hill, Bill Hader, Michael Cera, James Franco, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Paul Rudd and Nick Kroll. Alan Menken (Beauty and the BeastAladdin) and Christopher Lennertz (Ride AlongHorrible Bosses) have composed the film’s original score. Menken has also contributed the original song The Great Beyond (with lyrics by Glenn Slater and the screenwriters). the-b-sidePaul Leonard-Morgan has been hired to score the upcoming documentary The B-Side: Elsa Dorfman’s Portrait Photography. The film is directed by Academy Award-winning filmmaker Errol Morris (The Fog of WarThe Unknown KnownThe Thin Blue LineStandard Operating Procedure) and profiles legendary photographer Elsa Dorfman, whose subjects have included such friends as Allen Ginsberg, Bob Dylan, and Jonathan Richman. Steven Hathaway is producing the project and Robert Fernandez (Austenland) & Julia Sheehan serve as executive producers on the Fourth Floor and Moxie Pictures production. heal-the-livingAlexandre Desplat has recently composed the music for the upcoming French/Belgian drama Heal the Living (Réparer les vivants). The film is directed by Katell Quillévéré (Suzanne) and stars Tahar Rahim, Emmanuelle Seigner, Anne Dorval, Bouli Lanners, Kool Shen, Monia Chokri, Alice Taglioni, Alice de Lencquesaing, Karim Leklou, Finnegan Oldfield and Dominique Blanc. The movie is based on Maylis de Kerangal’s novel and draws three seemingly unrelated stories together into a tale about the moment when tragedy meets hope. ‘Kicks’ Soundtrack Announced

The album features the film’s original score composed by Brian Reitzell (Hannibal, Friday Night Lights, Stranger Than Fiction, 30 Days of Night). Also included are the songs from the film by artists such as Wu Tang Clan, RJ2D, Keith Jenkins, Nanasour, Marc E. Bassy, Mac Dre, Blue Magic & more. The soundtrack will be released on September 9, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Kicks is directed by Justin Tipping and stars Jahking Guillory, Christopher Meyer, CJ Wallace, Kofi Siriboe and Mahershala Ali. The movie follows a fifteen-year old boy and his two best friends who go on an ill-advised mission across the Bay Area to retrieve the a pair of sneakers that were stolen by a local hood. trollsThe full details of the soundtrack album for DreamWorks Animation’s feature Trolls have been revealed. The album features the songs from the film performed by the movie’s voice cast, including Justin Timberlake (who also serves as the executive music producer on the project), Anna Kendrick, Zooey Deschanel, Gwen Stefani and Ron Funches, as well as Ariana Grande & Earth, Wind & Fire. The soundtrack will be released on September 23, 2016 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The film is directed by Pablo Larraín (No, The Club) and stars Natalie Portman, Peter Sarsgaard, Greta Gerwig, Billy Crudup and John Hurt. The movie depicts the events leading up to and following the assassination of JFK in 1963 through the eyes of First Lady, Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy. Noah Oppenheim (The Maze Runner) has written the screenplay. Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan, Requiem for a Dream) is producing the project with Juan de Dios Larraín (Gloria, Nasty Baby), Mickey Liddell (The Grey, Go), Scott Franklin (Noah, The Wrestler) and Ari Handel (The Fountain).
