The Academy of Motion Pictures announced a couple of new rules and campaign regulations for next year’s 90th Academy Awards, which were approved at their most recent Board meeting on Tuesday, March 28, including one in the music categories. ‘Red’ Soundtrack Announced

Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the short Red. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tom Schutzinger (Somersault, Jewboy, Yolk, Lucky Country, Caught Inside). Julian Wass has been tapped to score the upcoming HBO original series Room 104. The show is created by Mark & Jay Duplass (Cyrus, Jeff Who Lives at Home). The anthology series tells a different story of a group of assorted characters who pass through the room of an average American hotel in each episode. The Duplass brothers are also executive producing the comedy with Xan Aranda (Blue Jay). Bear McCreary revealed in a recent interview with Film Music Magazine that he is scoring the upcoming horror thriller Half to Death. The film is directed by Christopher Landon (Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, screenwriter of Disturbia) and stars Jessica Rothe, Ruby Modine, Charles Aitken and Rachel Matthews. Alexandre Desplat is currently scoring Roman Polanski’s upcoming French-language thriller Based on a True Story. The film starring Emmanuelle Seigner, Eva Green and Vincent Perez follows a Parisian author with writer’s block who discovers a mysterious woman at a book signing. Olivier Assayas (Personal Shopper, Clouds of Sils Maria) and Polanski wrote the screenplay based on Delphine de Vigan’s novel of the same title.
