Miss Piki’s Band Limited has released a soundtrack EP for the New Zealand comedy Red, White & Brass. The 4-track EP features the songs from the film by the reggae band Three Houses Down. Red, White & Brass is co-written and directed by Damon Fepulea’i and stars John-Paul (JP) Foliaki, Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, Mikey Falesiu, Onetoto Ikavuka, Haanz Fa’avae-Jackson, Lupeti Finau, Ilaisaane Green and Lotima Pome’e. The movie executive produced by Taika Waititi follows a superfan who – in an attempt to get tickets to the Tonga vs France 2011 Rugby World Cup game – promises to deliver a brass band for the pre-match entertainment.

‘Red’ Soundtrack Announced
Lakeshore Records has announced a soundtrack album for the short Red. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tom Schutzinger (Somersault, Jewboy, Yolk, Lucky Country, Caught Inside). The soundtrack is now available on Bandcamp and will be released through all major digital retailers on April 14. Visit Amazon to pre-order the album. Red is written and directed by Del Kathryn Barton and stars Cate Blanchett, Alex Russell, Arella Plater, and the Sydney Dance Company’s Charmene Yap.
Alan Silvestri to Score ‘Red 2’
Alan Silvestri has signed on to score the upcoming action comedy sequel Red 2. The film is directed by Dean Parisot (Galaxy Quest, Fun with Dick and Jane) and stars Bruce Willis, John Malkovich, Mary-Louise Parker, Anthony Hopkins, Helen Mirren, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Byung Hun Lee, Brian Cox and Neal McDonough. In the movie, retired black-ops CIA agent Frank Moses reunites his unlikely team of elite operatives for a global quest to track down a missing portable nuclear device. Jon Hoeber & Erich Hoeber (Red, Battleship) have written the screenplay and Lorenzo DiBonaventura (Transformers series, G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra & Retaliation) and Mark Vahradian (Red, Man on a Ledge) are producing the project for DiBonaventura Pictures.
Full slate of projects for Christophe Beck
Christophe Beck recently completed scoring the action comedy Red starring Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren. He replaced composer David Holmes, who was originally attached to the project as reported earlier this year. The movie comes out on October 15 from Summit Entertainment.
Beck also has a number of other projects coming out in the near future. Earlier this year, he completed the score for Todd Philipp’s road trip comedy Due Date starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifianakis. This marks his third collaboration with the director after scoring School for Scoundrels and last year’s comedy hit The Hangover.
David Holmes to score Red
UPDATE (October 5, 2010): Christophe Beck has taken over scoring duties on Red.
Film Music Reporter has learned that David Holmes has been hired to score the graphic novel adaptation Red. The movie is directed by Robert Schwentke (Flightplan, The Time Traveler’s Wife) and stars Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, Morgan Freeman, Mary-Louise Parker, John Malkovich and Richard Dreyfuss. The movie centers around former black-ops agent Frank Mose, who reassembles his old team in a last ditch effort to survive when his idyllic life is threatened by a high-tech assassin.
