The only movie opening nationwide this weekend is the comedy Just Getting Started written and directed by Ron Shelton and starring Morgan Freeman, Tommy Lee Jones, Rene Russo, Joe Pantoliano, Glenne Headley, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Elizabeth Ashley, George Wallace, Graham Beckel and Jane Seymour. The film’s original music is composed by Alex Wurman (March of the Penguins, Talladega Nights, Anchorman, The Newsroom). Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) has been hired to score the upcoming sci-fi action movie Alita: Battle Angel. The film is directed by Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk Till Dawn, Spy Kids, Once Upon a Time in Mexico) and stars Rosa Salazar, Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali, Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley and Keean Johnson. The movie is based on the graphic novel series Gunnm by Yukito Kishiro and follows a young woman who sets out on a journey that will lead her to take on the injustices of this dark, corrupt world. James Cameron (Titanic, Avatar) co-wrote the screenplay with Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island, Terminator Genisys) and Rodriguez. He is also producing the project with Jon Landau.
Varese Sarabande has announced the details of the soundtrack album for the action thriller 24 Hours to Live. The album features the film’s original music composed by Tyler Bates (Guardians of the Galaxy, 300, Watchmen, John Wick, The Punisher, Dawn of the Dead). Also included is the previously unreleased song, God’s Going to Cut You Down, by Marilyn Manson. The soundtrack will be released physically on January 19, 2018 and is now available for pre-order on
Lorne Balfe has been tapped to score the upcoming documentary Studio 54. The film is directed by Matt Tyrnauer (Citizen Jane: Battle for the City) and centers on on the pulsating epicenter of 1970s hedonism: a disco hothouse of beautiful people, drugs, and sex. The movie follows club owners Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell – two best friends from Brooklyn who conquered New York City – as they frame this history of the “greatest club of all time.” Tyrnauer is also producing the project with John Battsek (Searching for Sugar Man, How I Live Now, Restrepo) and Corey Reeser.

Brazilian singer/songwriter Rodrigo Amarante has recently composed the music for the upcoming thriller 7 Days in Entebbe. The film is directed by Jose Padilha (Enemy Squad, RoboCop) and stars Rosamund Pike, Daniel Brühl, Eddie Marsan, Ben Schnetzer, Lior Ashkenazi and Denis Ménochet. The movie is inspired by the true events of the 1976 hijacking of an Air France flight en route from Tel Aviv to Paris Gregory Burke (’71) wrote the screenplay. Tim Bevan & Eric Fellner (Atonement, The Theory of Everything, Baby Driver, Les Miserables) are producing the Working Title Films production with Kate Solomon (The Program), Michelle Wright and Ron Halpern (The Gunman).
