Universal Pictures and Working Title have announced today that Marius de Vries will serve as the executive music producer on the upcoming film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Tony Award-winning stage musical Cats. The film is directed by Tom Hooper (The King’s Speech, Les Miserables) and stars James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson and Francesca Hayward. Shlohmo Scoring Pippa Bianco’s ‘Share’

Electronic music artist Shlohmo (aka Henry Laufer) is making his feature film scoring debut on the upcoming drama Share. The film is written and directed by Pippa Bianco and stars Rhianne Barreto, Charlie Plummer, Poorna Jagannathan, J.C. MacKenzie, Nick Galitzine and Lovie Simone. The movie is based on Bianco’s short of the same title and centers on a sixteen-year-old girl who discovers a disturbing video from a night she doesn’t remember and must try to figure out what happened and how to navigate the escalating fallout. A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire, 127 Hours, The Hundred-Foot Journey) is reteaming with director Grinder Chadha on the upcoming British comedy drama Blinded by the Light. The film and stars Viveik Kalra, Hayley Atwell, Rob Brydon, Kulvinder Ghir, Nell Williams and Aaron Phagura. The movie is set 1987 during the austere days of Thatcher’s Britain and follows a teenager as he learns to live life, understand his family and find his own voice through the music of Bruce Springsteen. The film is directed by Alma Har’el (Bombay Beach) and stars Shia LaBeouf, Lucas Hedges, Noah Jupe and Maika Monroe. The movie revolves around a child TV star and his ex-rodeo clown father as they face their stormy past through time and cinema. LaBeouf also wrote the screenplay. The full details of the score album for the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Daniel Pemberton (Steve Jobs, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., Ocean’s 8, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, The Counselor). The soundtrack is set to be released digitally on December 17 by Sony Classical and is now available for pre-order here. A CD and vinyl version can be ordered as an import on Amazon. As previously reported, Republic Records will release a separate soundtrack featuring the songs from the movie. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey & Rodney Rothman and starring Shameik Moore, Mahershala Ali, Jake Johnson, Hailee Steinfeld, Liev Schreiber, Brian Tyree Henry, Luna Lauren Velez and Lily Tomlin is opening in theaters nationwide this weekend. Laura Karpman has been tapped to score the upcoming indie drama Miss Virginia. The film is directed by R.J. Daniel Hanna (What Still Remains) and stars Uzo Aduba, Matthew Modine, Vanessa Williams, Aunjanue Ellis, Niles Fitch, Nadji Jeter, Adina Porter, Amirah Vann and Michael Beasl. Republic Records and Sony Pictures have revealed the track list of the soundtrack album for the animated feature Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Included on the album are two songs (What’s Up Danger by Blackway & Black Caviar and Sunflower by Post Malone & Swae Lee) that have already been released as digital singles, as well as tracks by Jaden Smith, Nicki Minaj & Ansel Aa, Vince Staples, DJ Khalil, Lil Wayne & Ty Dolla $ign, Aminé & more. The soundtrack will be released this Friday, December 14 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon.
