Intrada Records has announced a new soundtrack album for the 1995 drama Apollo 13 directed by Ron Howard and starring Tom Hanks, Kevin Bacon, Bill Paxton, Ed Harris, Gary Sinise and Kathleen Quinlan. The album features the original music from the Universal Pictures production composed and conducted by James Horner (Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart, A Beautiful Mind, Aliens) who received an Academy Award nomination for his score. The 2-CD set features the composer’s complete score on the first disc and the content of the FYC promotional release, which was released in 1995, on the second disc. A soundtrack album album has been announced for the Netflix original movie Polar. The album features the film’s original music composed by Deadmau5 who made his film scoring debut on the project. The soundtrack will be released digitally on January 25 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Two tracks from the album are already available to download. Polar is directed by Jonas Akerlund (Lords of Chaos) and stars Mads Mikkelsen, Vanessa Hudgens, Katheryn Winnick and Matt Lucas. The movie based on the Dark Horse action noir graphic novel Polar: Came From the Cold by Victor Santoson follows an assassin on the verge of retirement must put the good life on hold when his greedy boss sends a squad of young, ruthless killers to take him out. Justin Hurwitz was honored with the Critics’ Choice Movie Award in the Best Score category for his music for Damien Chazelle’s First Man at tonight’s 24th Annual Critics’ Choice Movie Awards ceremony in Santa Monica, CA. He previously received a Critics’ Choice Award for his score for Chazelle’s La La Land in 2017. The other composers nominated in the Best Score category were Kris Bowers for Green Book, Nicholas Britell for If Beale Street Could Talk, Alexandre Desplat for Isle of Dogs, Ludwig Goransson for Black Panther and Marc Shaiman for Mary Poppins Returns. Jeff Russo (Fargo, Legion, Star Trek: Discovery, The Night Of) and Jordan Gagne (The Rookie, Waco) are composing the show’s original music.
