Cristobal Tapia de Veer (Utopia, The Girl With All the Gifts) won his first BAFTA TV Craft Award today for his music for the Channel 4 & Hulu mini-series National Treasure. The composer accepted his award in person at the ceremony in London. Check out his acceptance speech after the jump. Premiering tonight is the new Lifetime original series Mary Kills People created by Tara Armstrong and starring Caroline Dhavernas, Jay Ryan, Richard Short, Lyriq Bent, Greg Bryk and Charlotte Sullivan. The show’s original music is composed by John Rowley (Defendor, Weirdsville). Mary Kills People centers on a single mother who is an ER doctor by day, but by night, she and her partner, a former plastic surgeon, moonlight as underground angels of death and help terminally ill patients slip away on their own terms. Premiering on Tuesday, April 25, is National Geographic’s first scripted series Genius executive produced by Brian Grazer & Ron Howard and starring Geoffrey Rush, Johnny Flynn, Emily Watson, Nicholas Rowe, Samantha Colley, Jon Fletcher, Richard Topol and Alicia von Rittberg. Lorne Balfe (The LEGO Batman Movie, Home, Terminator Genisys) is composing the show’s music and Hans Zimmer (Pirates of the Caribbean, Inception, Gladiator) wrote the main titles theme. Milan Records will release a soundtrack EP for the show this Friday, April 28 and a full soundtrack album is in the works for a release later this year. Soundrack EP for National Geographic’s ‘Genius’ To Be Released

Milan Records will release an EP for the Nat Geo’s first scripted series, Genius. The album features the show’s main title theme written by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, The Lion King, Inception) and selections from the show’s original music composed by Lorne Balfe (The LEGO Batman Movie, Home, Terminator Genisys, Ghost in the Shell). Also included are three classical pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Genius is executive produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard (who also directed the first episode) and stars Geoffrey Rush, Johnny Flynn, Emily Watson, Nicholas Rowe, Samantha Colley, Jon Fletcher, Richard Topol and Alicia von Rittberg. The show’s first season follows the life of Albert Einstein, from his early years as a patent clerk, to his later years as a physicist who developed the theory of relativity. Carlo Virzi is reteaming with his brother Paolo Virzi on the upcoming drama The Leisure Seeker. The film marks the English language debut of the filmmaker whose previous movies include 2013’s Human Capital, 2010’s The First Beautiful Thing and last year’s Like Crazy and and stars Helen Mirren, Donald Sutherland, Kirsty Mitchell, Christian McKay and Robert Pralgo. The movie is inspired by the novel of the same name by Michael Zadoorian and follows a runaway couple going on a cross-country journey in their vintage camper as they flee the suffocating care of their doctors and grown children. Soundtrack for Showtime’s ‘Guerrilla’ to Be Released

Silva Screen Records will release a soundtrack album for the Showtime mini-series Guerrilla. The album features the original score from the show composed by Max Richter (The Leftovers, Taboo, Waltz with Bashir, Disconnect, Miss Sloane). Also included are the songs from the drama by Noir, Femi Kuti, Osibisa, Judy Mowatt, Curtis Mayfield, The Pioneers & more. The soundtrack will be released on May 12, 2017 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. Guerrilla is created John Ridley (12 Years a Slave) and stars Idris Elba, Frieda Pinto and Babou Ceesay. The 6-parter tells the story of a politically active couple whose relationship and values are tested when they liberate a political prisoner and form a radical underground cell in 1970s London. Tyler Bates to Score Marvel’s Netflix Series ‘The Punisher’

Tyler Bates has been hired to score Marvel’s upcoming Netflix original series The Punisher. The show is developed by Steve Lightfoot (Hannibal) based on the Marvel Comic character and stars Jon Bernthal in the title role, alongside Ben Barnes, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Amber Rose Revah, Deborah Ann Woll, Daniel Webber, Jason R. Moore, Paul Schulze and Jaime Ray Newman. Joe Kraemer announced on Twitter that he will be scoring the upcoming TV series Iron Fisting. The show is created by Brian Gatewood and Alex Tanaka and follows the exploits of two mismatched buddy cops as they seek to protect Communism and comrades from the evils of Capitalism. The comedy, which is described as “being done as a fake Romanian cop show from the 1980s”, is produced by A24 and Channing Tatum’s Free Association.
