Two new movies are opening nationwide this weekend:

Opening in most theaters is the animated feature Onward directed by Dan Scanlon and starring Chris Pratt, Tom Holland, Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Octavia Spencer. The film’s original score is composed by Mychael Danna (Life of Pi, Moneyball, Capote, Little Miss Sunshine) and Jeff Danna (The Good Dinosaur, The Addams Family, Storks). Walt Disney Records has released a soundtrack album featuring the composers’ score, as well as an original song co-written and performed by Brandi Carlile. Also opening wide is the drama The Way Back directed by Gavin O’Connor and starring Ben Affleck, Al Madrigal, Michaela Watkins, Janina Gavankar and Glynn Turman. Rob Simonsen (Love, Simon, Nerve, Foxcatcher, The Upside, (500) Days of Summer, The Spectacular Now) has composed the film’s original music. WaterTower Music has released a soundtrack album featuring the composer’s score last week. ‘Escape from Pretoria’ Soundtrack Details

Filmtrax has released a soundtrack album for the dramatic thriller Escape from Pretoria. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee David Hirschfelder (Shine, Elizabeth, Australia, The Railway Man, Legends of the Guardians). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also listen to audio samples. Escape from Pretoria is co-written and directed by Francis Annan and stars Daniel Radcliffe, Daniel Webber, Ian Hart, Mark Leonard Winter and Nathan Page. The movie tells the true story of freedom fighters Tim Jenkin & Stephen Lee, who were jailed in 1978 for being involved in covert anti-apartheid operations, as they attempt to break out from a maximum security South African jail. Rob Simonsen Scoring Jason Reitman’s ‘Ghostbusters: Afterlife’

Rob Simonsen (Love, Simon, Nerve, Foxcatcher, The Upside, (500) Days of Summer, The Spectacular Now) is currently scoring the upcoming supernatural comedy sequel Ghostbusters: Afterlife. The film is directed by Jason Reitman (Juno, Up in the Air) and stars Carrie Coon, Finn Wolfhard, Mckenna Grace and Paul Rudd. The movie follows a single mom and her two kids as they arrive in a small town and begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind. Reitman also co-wrote the screenplay with Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember). Ivan Reitman (Stripes, Kindergarten Cop, Dave) who directed the 1984 original Ghostbusters (scored by Elmer Bernstein) is producing the project. Read the rest of this entry »

Christina Aguilera’s Original Song ‘Loyal Brave True’ from ‘Mulan’ Released

Walt Disney Records has released the original song Loyal Brave True from the live-action film adaptation of Mulan. The song is performed by Christina Aguilera, written by Jamie Hartman, the film’s composer Harry Gregson-Williams, Rosi Golan and Billy Crabtree, and produced by Hartman. The track is now available to download as a digital single on Amazon. Listen to the full track after the jump. Aguilera has also recorded a new version of Reflections (originally written by David Zippel & Matthew Wilder for Disney’s 1998 animated feature), which is produced by Gregson-Williams who incorporated both songs into his underscore. The full soundtrack album featuring the songs and the movie’s original score composed and conducted by Gregson-Williams will be released on March 25. ‘The Roads Not Taken’ Soundtrack Details

Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the drama The Roads Not Taken. The album features the film’s original music composed by the movie’s director Sally Potter (Orlando, The Tango Lesson ,Yes). The soundtrack will be released digitally next Friday, March 13 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version is also in the works. The Roads Not Taken is written and directed by Potter and stars Javier Bardem, Elle Fanning, Branka Katić, Milena Tscharntke, Laura Linney and Salma Hayek. ‘Over Water’ Season 2 Soundtrack Released

VRT MZK has released a new soundtrack album for the Flemish TV series Over Water. The album features selections of the original music from the show’s second season composed by Raf Keunen (Bullhead, Racer and the Jailbird, Just a Sigh). The soundtrack is now available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio clips. A soundtrack featuring Daniel Hart’s score from the first season of the show has previously been released last year. ‘I Still Believe’ Soundtrack Details

Capitol Records will release the official soundtrack album for the faith-based drama I Still Believe. The album features five songs performed by lead actor KJ Apa, including versions of Jeremy Camp hits I Still Believe and This Man and a duet with JJ Heller of Find Me In The River, the new song I Can’t Save Myself by Adrienne Camp, as well as Jeremy Camp’s updated versions of I Still Believe and Walk By Faith. Also included are five tracks from the movie’s original score composed by Academy Award nominee John Debney (The Passion of the Christ, The Jungle Book, Elf, Iron Man 2, Bruce Almighty). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, March 6 and will be available to stream/download here.
