Milan Records will release a soundtrack album for the documentary Spaceship Earth. The album features the film’s original music composed by Academy Award nominee Owen Pallett (Her, The Box, Life). The soundtrack will be released digitally tomorrow, May 22 and will be available to stream/download on Amazon, where you can also check out audio samples. Spaceship Earth is directed by Matt Wolf and tells the story of a group of countercultural visionaries who built an enormous replica of earth’s ecosystem called Biosphere 2 in 1991. Lakeshore Records has released the cover version of Leonard Cohen’s Bird on a Wire from the fifth episode of the Hulu original series The Great. The track is performed by Simone Istwa and produced by Zachary Dawes. The song is now available to stream/download as a digital single on Amazon can also be checked out after the jump. The song will also be featured on the show’s full soundtrack album, which will be released digitally tomorrow (click here for the full album details). The show features more than 10 new plays, which were written in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and rehearsed/filmed using digital conferencing technology. Among the participating actors are Gemma Arterton, James Norton, Lennie James, Julian Barratt, Rory Kinnear, Meera Syal and Alison Steadman. The plays will respond to how our understanding and experiences of community, education, work, relationships, family, culture, climate and capitalism are evolving on an unprecedented scale. Alan Menken to Compose Music for Skydance Animation’s ‘Spellbound’

Skydance Animation has announced today that Alan Menken (The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Enchanted) will be composing the score for the upcoming animated feature Spellbound. He will also be writing original songs with lyricist and frequent collaborated Glenn Slater (Tangled). Former President of Walt Disney Music Chris Montan will serve as executive music producer. The film directed Vicky Jenson (Shrek, Shark Tale) is set in a world of magic where a young girl must break the spell that has split her kingdom in two.
