Steven Argila (Basmati Blues, Wayne, Max Steel, The Thing About My Folks) has been hired to score Spectrum’s reboot of the 90s comedy Mad About You. The show is developed by Peter Tolan (Rescue Me, The Job) and stars Paul Reiser and Helen Hunt who reprise their roles in the series, as well as Abby Quinn, Anne Ramsey, John Pankow and Richard Kind. Tolan, Hunt and Reiser are also executive producing the Sony Pictures Television production with Brian Volk-Weiss, Michael Pelmont and Matthew Ochacher.

Weekly TV Music Roundup (September 8, 2019)
Premiering on Thursday, September 12, is the Netflix limited series The I-Land created by Neil LaBute and starring Kate Bosworth, Alex Pettyfer, Natalie Martinez, Kyle Schmid, Gilles Geary and Ronald Peet. The show’s original music is composed by Emily Rice. The sci-fi thriller, which follows a group of strangers who fight to survive harsh realities – and the island that traps them stream, will be available to stream on Thursday exclusively on Netflix.
Premiering on Friday, September 13, is the Netflix original series Unbelievable developed by Susannah Grant, Michael Chabon & Ayelet Waldman and starring Toni Collette, Merritt Wever and Kaitlyn Dever. Will Bates (I Origins, The Path, Another Earth, The Looming Tower) is composing the show’s original music. Giancarlo Vulcano Scoring USA’s ‘Briarpatch’
Giancarlo Vulcano (Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Great News) is the composer of the upcoming USA original series Briarpatch. The show is created by Andy Greenwald and stars Rosario Dawson, Jay F. Ferguson, Edi Gathegi, Kim Dickens and Brian Geraghty. The drama revolves around a Washington political fixer as she returns to her hometown to unravel the mystery surrounding her sister’s death and comes face-to-face with old acquaintances carrying new agendas. Greenwald is also executive producing the UCP production with Sam Esmail & Chad Hamilton (Mr. Robot, Homecoming).
‘Mr. Robot’ Volume 6 Soundtrack Details
Lakeshore Records will release a new soundtrack album for the USA original series Mr. Robot. The album features more music from the show’s third season composed by Mac Quayle (American Horror Story, American Crime Story, Feud: Bette and Joan, Pose) who received an Emmy Award for his music from the series in 2016. The Volume 6 soundtrack will be released digitally on September 13 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. The label has previously released five soundtrack albums featuring the composer’s music from the first three seasons of the show. Mr. Robot created by Sam Esmail and starring Rami Malek, Christian Slater, Portia Doubleday, Martin Wallstrom and Carly Chaikin will return for its fourth and final season on October 6 on USA.
Toby Chu to Score Netflix’s ‘Centaurworld’
Netflix has announced that Toby Chu (Bao, Unforgettable, Legends of Oz: Dorothy’s Return, Covert Affairs) is scoring the upcoming animated series Centaurworld. The show is created by Megan Nicole Dong (Pinky Malinky) and revolves around a hardened war horse that is transported away from battle and finds herself in a land that’s inhabited by silly, singing centaurs of all shapes and sizes. Dong is also executive producing the project with Dominic Bisignano (Star vs the Forces of Evil). Each episode will also include original songs in a variety of genres.
Apple’s ‘Home Before Dark’ to Feature Music by Nathan Lanier
Nathan Lanier has signed on to score the upcoming Apple original series Home Before Dark. The show is created by Dana Fox (Couples Retreat, How to Be Single) & Dara Resnik and stars Brooklynn Prince, Jim Sturgess, Abby Miller, Louis Herthum, Michael Weston, Kylie Rogers, Aziza Scott, Adrian Hough, Joelle Carter and Jibrail Nantambu. The mystery drama is inspired by the real-life story of Hilde Lysiak and follows a young girl who moves from Brooklyn to the small lakeside town her father left behind and leads her to unearth a cold case that everyone in town, including her own father, tried hard to bury.
RZA Scoring Hulu’s ‘Wu-Tang: An American Saga’
RZA is composing the original score for the new Hulu original series Wu-Tang: An American Saga. The show is created by the Wu-Tang Clan leader himself & Alex Tse (Watchmen, SuperFly) and stars Ashton Sanders, Shameik Moore, Siddiq Saunderson (playing Ghostface Killah), Marcus Callender, Zolee Griggs and Erika Alexander. The drama is set in early ’90s New York at the height of the crack cocaine epidemic and tracks the Clan’s formation, a vision of Bobby Diggs aka The RZA, who unites the men torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories.
‘Steven Universe: The Movie’ Soundtrack Details
WaterTower Music will release a soundtrack album for Cartoon Network’s Steven Universe: The Movie. The album features the songs from the film written by Rebecca Sugar, among others and performed by the movie’s voice cast and artists including Chance The Rapper, Estelle, Patti LuPone, Uzo Aduba, Gallant and Aimee Mann. The soundtrack will be released digitally this coming Monday, September 2 and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A deluxe vinyl edition with additional eight bonus tracks is set to come out on November 15 and can be pre-ordered here. Steven Universe: The Movie is co-written and directed by Sugar based on the hit animated TV series and features the voices of Zach Callison, Estelle, Michaela Dietz and Deedee Magno Hall. The film follows the Crystal Gems as they attempt to save all organic life on Earth from a mysterious new Gem.
Dhani Harrison & Paul Hicks Scoring Netflix’s ‘Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates’
Dhani Harrison & Paul Hicks (Learning to Drive, Beautiful Creatures, The Divide, Matangi/Maya/M.I.A., Outsiders) are the composers of the new Netflix docu-series Inside Bill’s Brain: Decoding Bill Gates. The show is directed by Davis Guggenheim (An Inconvenient Truth, Waiting for Superman) and tells Bill Gates’ life story, in-depth and unfiltered, as he pursues unique solutions to some of the world’s most complex problems. The 3-parter draws on interviews with Bill and Melinda Gates in addition to their friends, family, and partners in philanthropy and business.
‘Godfather of Harlem’ Theme Song ‘Just In Case’ Released
Epic Records has released the main titles song from the new Epix original series Godfather of Harlem. The track, entitled Just In Case, is performed by Swizz Beatz, Rick Ross & DMX, and is now available to stream and download on Amazon. The label has also released another track from the soundtrack for the drama, Hallelujah by Buddy, A$AP Ferg & Wale (click here to download the song).
