Ludwig Goransson is composing the score for the upcoming action comedy thriller Stretch. The film is written and directed by Joe Carnahan and stars Patrick Wilson, Chris Pine, Ed Helms, Jessica Alba, Brooklyn Decker, James Badge Dale and Ray Liotta. The movie follows a down-on-his-luck chauffeur who is looking to relieve his debt by driving around a mysterious billionaire who drags him to hell and back. Carnahan is also producing the project with Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, The Purge) for Blumhouse Pictures. Tracy Falco (Lions for Lambs) is executive producing. The director has previously collaborated with composers including Cliff Martinez (Narc), Clint Mansell (Smokin’ Aces), Alan Silvestri (The A-Team) and Marc Streitenfeld (The Grey).

Marc & Steffan Fantini Scoring ‘Moms’ Night Out’
Marc Fantini and Steffan Fantini are currently recording their orchestral score for the upcoming family comedy Moms’ Night Out. The film is directed by Andrew & Jon Erwin (October Baby) and stars Sarah Drew, Sean Astin, Patricia Heaton, Alex Kendrick, Robert Amaya, Abbie Cobb, Andrea Logan White, Kevin Downes, Harry Shum Jr. and Trace Adkins. The movie follows three married moms, their husbands, a sister-in-law with a misplaced baby, a tattoo parlor owner, a motorcycle gang and one bewildered cabbie who learn to embrace parenting on a night out gone awry. Kevin Downes (Like Dandelion Dust) is producing the AFFIRM Films and Provident Films production. The comedy will be released this Mother’s Day weekend on May 9, 2014 by Sony Pictures.
Alexandre Desplat to Score Angelina Jolie’s ‘Unbroken’
Alexandre Desplat has been tapped to score the upcoming World War II drama Unbroken. The film marks the second directorial effort of Angelina Jolie and stars Jack O’Connell, Garrett Hedlund, Domhnall Gleeson, Jai Courtney and Finn Wittrock. The movie is based on the book Unbroken: A World War II Story of Survival, Resilience, and Redemption by Laura Hildebrand and tells the true story of Lou Zamperini who was a Los Angeles high school track star who raced in the 1936 Berlin Olympics and whose Air Force plane crashed in the Pacific in 1943, where he survived 47 days without food and water. Joel & Ethan Coen (No Country for Old Men, Fargo) have written the screenplay with Richard LaGravenese (The Horse Whisperer, The Fisher King) and William Nicholson (Gladiator, Les Miserables).
Steven Price to Score Marvel’s ‘Ant-Man’
Edgar Wright has announced on Twitter that he will be scoring the director’s upcoming comic book film adaptation of Ant-Man. The film will star Paul Rudd in the title role of Scott Lang/Ant-Man, the superhero who can change size via an invented substance and can communicate with insects. Michael Douglas will be portraying scientist Hank Pym and Michael Pena has also been cast in an undisclosed role. Wright has also co-written the screenplay with Joe Cornish (Attack the Block). Kevin Feige (Iron Man, The Avengers, Thor, Captain America) is producing the Marvel Studios production. Price has previously scored Wright’s last feature The World’s End, as well as the Wright-produced horror comedy Attack the Block.
Klaus Badelt to Score Werner Herzog’s ‘Queen of the Desert’
Klaus Badelt is set to reunite with director Werner Herzog on the upcoming biographical drama Queen of the Desert. The film written and directed by Herzog stars Nicole Kidman as Gertrude Bell, the iconic explorer, writer, archeologist and attaché for the British Empire who helped to catalyze the formation of the Middle East at the dawn of the 20th century. Damian Lewis, Robert Pattinson and James Franco are co-starring. Nick Raslan is producing the Palmyra Films and Benaroya Pictures production with Cassian Elwes (Lee Daniels’ The Butler, The Paperboy) and Michael Benaroya (Lawless, The Words, Margin Call). Badelt has previously collaborated with Herzog on such films as Rescue Dawn, Invincible and the documentary Happy People: A Year in the Taiga.
Michael Giacchino Scoring ‘Ratatouille’ Ride for Disneyland Paris
Michael Giacchino revealed on Twitter today the he is currently recording the music for a new Ratatouille theme park attraction for Disneyland Paris based on the Oscar-winning movie from Pixar. The composer has previously scored the 2007 animated feature, for which he received his first Academy Award nomination. The attractions is reportedly a trackless ride vehicles with 3-D projections and special effects and riders riders will encounter audio-animatronic figures, special effects and 3-D imagery projected on 30-foot-wide domed screens. Giacchino’s music is being recorded at Capitol Records Studios in Los Angeles. The Ratatouille ride will be opening this summer in the Toon Studio area at Disneyland Paris.
Laurent Eyquem to Score John McTiernan’s ‘Red Squad’
Laurent Eyquem is set to score the upcoming thriller Red Squad. John McTiernan will be directing the film, which follows a former DEA agent with a rogue streak and his select team of mercenaries who descend upon a Mexican border town to neutralize a drug lord. The movie’s cast is expected to be announced soon. Rionda Del Castro is producing the Hannibal Classics production with Michael Mendelsohn. Eyquem has previously scored the production company’s thriller Tokarev starring Nicolas Cage. McTiernan has previously collaborated with composers including Michael Kamen (Die Hard), Alan Silvestri (Predator), Jerry Goldsmith (The 13th Warrior), Basil Poledouris (The Hunt for Red October), Bill Conti (The Thomas Crown Affair) and Klaus Badelt (Basic).
Ramin Djawadi to Score ‘Dracula Untold’
Ramin Djawadi has been hired to score historical horror thriller Dracula Untold. The film is helmed by commercials director Gary Shore and tells the origin story of the man who became Dracula. Luke Evans stars in the title role as a young prince who risks his soul to save his wife and child from a bloodthirsty sultan and in the process becomes the first vampire. Sarah Gadon, Dominic Cooper, Samantha Barks, Art Parkinson and Charlie Cox are co-starring. Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless have written the screenplay. Michael De Luca (The Social Network, Moneyball, Captain Phillips) is producing the project, which is also produced by Legendary Pictures.
‘Maestro’ to Feature Music by Craig Leon
Bow Street Films has announced that Craig Leon will be writing the music for the upcoming drama Maestro. The film based on a novel by Peter Goldsworthy is directed by Catherine Jarvis and is set to star Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, In the Heart of the Sea). He will be playing a pianist who moves to an exotic outpost of 1960′s Northern Australia and is forced to learn from a Viennese refugee with a shadowed past, known to the locals as Maestro. Daniel Harvey is producing the project with Joe Jenckes (Margin Call, Kill Your Darlings) and David Dickson. The music will also feature recordings performed by famed pianist Lang Lang and a soundtrack album will be released by Deutsche Grammophon/Universal. Leon is best known as a record producer who worked with such artists as The Ramones and Blondie.
Rolfe Kent to Score ‘108 Demons’
Rolfe Kent is set to score the upcoming French 3D animated feature 108 Demons (La légende des 108). The film is directed by Pascal Morelli who previously helmed the animated adventure Corto Maltese. The movie inspired by the Chinese novel Outlaws of the Water Margin is set in 12th Century China and follows a 10-year-old prince who teams with outlaws to fight the armies of a tyrannical emperor. Morelli has also co-written the screenplay with Jean Pecheux based on Hugo Pratt’s comicbook. Vincent Roget and Francois Cornuau (Les Brigades du Tigre) of Same Player are producing the project with China’s Fundamental, Belgium’s Scope Pictures and Luxembourg’s Bidibul Productions.
