Stephen Warbeck is composing the music for the upcoming animated feature Yellowbird. The film is directed by Christian De Vita and features the voice talent of Seth Green, Dakota Fanning, Danny Glover, Jim Rash, Elliott Gould and Christine Baranski. The movie follows an orphan young bird who has never left the nest and is given the responsibility by the elder of the flock to lead a whole family of birds on migration to Africa. Antoine Barraud, Guilhem Lesaffre and Cory Edwards (Hoodwinked!) have written the screenplay. TeamTO and Haut et Court are producing the project.

Howard Shore Scoring Jon Stewart’s ‘Rosewater’
Howard Shore has composed the music for the upcoming drama Rosewater. The film marks the directorial debut of The Daily Show host Jon Stewart and stars Gael Garcia Bernal, leading an international cast. The movie is based on the memoir Then They Came for Me: A Family’s Story of Love, Captivity and Survival and tells the true story of Canadian-Iranian BBC journalist Maziar Bahari who spent four months in an Iranian prison being blindly interrogated by a man who smelled of rosewater. Stewart has also written the screenplay and is also producing the OddLot Entertainment production with Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men, Moneyball, The Social Network) and Gigi Pritzker (Drive, Ender’s Game).
Benson Taylor to Score ‘London Fields’
Benson Taylor has announced on Twitter that he is composing the score for the upcoming crime thriller London Fields. The film is directed by Matthew Cullen and stars Amber Heard, Billy Bob Thornton, Jim Sturgess, Theo James and Jaimie Alexander. Johnny Depp will appear in a cameo role. The movie is based on the novel by Martin Amis (Saturn 3) and follows a promiscuous psychic who meets her fate as foretold by her visions by going to a seedy London pub. Amis has written the screenplay with Roberta Hanley (Veronika Decides to Die). Chris Hanley (Spring Breakers, American Psycho) is producing the project for Muse Productions, alongside Jordan Gertner for Hero Entertainment and Geyer Kosinski (Bad News Bears, Fargo, School for Scoundrels) for Media Talent Group.
Julian Wass to Score ‘The Overnight’
Julian Wass is attached to score the upcoming indie comedy The Overnight. The film is directed by Patrick Brice (Creep) and stars Taylor Schilling, Adam Scott, Jason Schwartzman and Judith Godreche. No plot details have been announced yet. Mark Duplass (Jeff, Who Lives at Home, Cyrus) is producing the project for the Duplass Brothers Productions, alongside Naomi & Adam Scott for Gettin’ Rad Productions. Wass has previously scored the Duplass-directed comedy The Do-Deca-Pentathlon, as well as the Duplass-produced The Freebie.
Christophe Beck to Return for ‘Hot Tub Time Machine 2’
Christophe Beck confirmed in a recent interview with We Are Movie Geeks that he is returning to score the upcoming comedy sequel Hot Tub Time Machine 2. The film reunites director Steve Pink (About Last Night, Accepted), screenwriter Josh Heald and actors Rob Corddry, Craig Robinson, Clark Duke and Chevy Chase. They are joined by new cast members Adam Scott and Gillian Jacobs. In the sequel, Nick, Lou and Jacob attempt to go back to the past, but inadvertently end up ten years in the future, which they must alter if they want to save their present-day environment. Andrew Panay (Wedding Crashers) is producing the MGM production. Beck previously scored the 2010 original film.
Mark Bradshaw to Score ‘Testament of Youth’
Mark Bradshaw has been hired to score the upcoming historical drama Testament of Youth. The film is directed by James Kent (The Thirteenth Tale, The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister) and stars Alicia Vikander, Kit Harrington, Taron Egerton, Colin Morgan, Dominic West, Emily Watson, Joanna Scanlan, Hayley Atwell, Jonathan Bailey, Alexandra Roach and Anna Chancellor. The BBC Films production is based on the autobiography of Vera Brittain and tells the story of the British writer and pacifist who postponed her studies at Oxford University during World War I to serve as a Voluntary Aid Detachment nurse in London, Malta and France. Juliette Towhidi (Calendar Girls) has adapted the material for the screen.
Jed Kurzel Scoring Justin Kurzel’s ‘Macbeth’
Jed Kurzel is currently scoring the upcoming drama Macbeth. The film is directed by the composer’s brother, Justin Kurzel, and stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cottilard, Sean Harris, Elizabeth Debicki, Paddy Considine and David Thewlis. The movie is based on the play by William Shakespeare and follows General Macbeth whose ambitious wife urges him to use wicked means in order to gain power of the throne over the sitting king. Jacob Koskoff & Todd Louiso (The Marc Pease Experiment) have written the screenplay. Iain Canning & Emile Sherman (The King’s Speech, Shame) are producing the project through their See-Saw Films production company.
Johnny Klimek to Score ‘6 Miranda Drive’
Johnny Klimek is reteaming with director Greg Mclean on the upcoming thriller 6 Miranda Drive. The film stars Kevin Bacon, Radha Mitchell, Jennifer Morrison, David Mazouz, Lucy Fry and Matt Walsh. The movie follows two families who return from a summer camping trip in the Grand Canyon with a supernatural presence in tow. Jason Blum (Paranormal Activity, Insidious, The Purge) is producing the project through his Blumhouse production company alongside Matt Kaplan for Chapter One and Bianca Martino for Emu Creek Pictures. Klimek has previously collaborated with Mclean on the horror sequel Wolf Creek 2.
Danny Bensi & Saunder Jurriaans to Score ‘Last Days in the Desert’
Danny Bensi and Saunder Jurriaans have been hired to score the upcoming indie drama Last Days in the Desert. The film is written and directed by Rodrigo Garcia and stars Ewan McGregor, Tye Sheridan, Ciaran Hinds and Ayelet Zurer. The movie follows a holy man and a demon on a journey through the desert who encounters a family struggling to survive, which forces him to confront his own fate. Julie Lynn (The Jane Austen Book Club, Albert Nobbs) and Bonnie Curtis (Minority Report, A.I. Artificial Intelligence) are producing the Mockingbird Pictures and Division Films production with Wicks Walker. Garcia previously collaborated with composers Edward Shearmur (Mother and Child, Passengers) and Brian Byrne (Albert Nobbs) on his previous features.
‘Annie’ to Feature Music by Greg Kurstin
Greg Kurstin is composing original music for the upcoming musical comedy drama Annie. The film is directed by Will Gluck (Easy A, Friends with Benefits) and stars Quvenzhané Wallis, Jamie Foxx, Cameron Diaz, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Amanda Troya, Eden Duncan Smith, Nicolette Pierini and Zoe Colletti. The movie is based on the Broadway classic of the same title and is set in the present day in New York. Emma Thompson has penned the screenplay, which was rewritten by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada, We Bought a Zoo) and revised by Gluck. Will Smith & Jada Pinkett Smith (The Karate Kid, After Earth) are producing the Overbrook Entertainment and Marcy Media production with James Lassiter (I Am Legend, The Pursuit of Happyness), Shawn “JAY Z” Carter, Jay Brown, and Tyran “Ty Ty” Smith.
