Joseph Bishara has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming horror thriller The Vatican Tapes. The film is directed by Mark Neveldine (Crank, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance) and stars Michael Pena, Olivia Dudley, Djimon Hounsou, Dougray Scott, Peter Andersson, Kathleen Robertson, John Patrick Amedori and Alex Sparrow. The movie follows a priest who tries to help a twentysomething woman who seems to cause death and destruction to those around her. Christopher Borrelli has written the screenplay based on an original story by himself and Chris Morgan (Wanted, Fast Five). The Lakeshore Entertainment production is produced by Tom Rosenberg & Gary Lucchesi (Million Dollar Baby, The Lincoln Lawyer, Underworld) and Chris Cowles.

Marco Beltrami to Score Phillip Noyce’s ‘The Giver’
Marco Beltrami has been hired to score the upcoming sci-fi drama The Giver. The film is directed by Phillip Noyce and stars Brenton Thwaites, Jeff Bridges, Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard, Taylor Swift, Cameron Monaghan, Odeya Rush and Katie Holmes. The movie is based on the YA novel by Lois Lowry and follows a young boy who is selected for his life service as the Receiver of Memories and works with an old man who teaches him to use his unique gifts of the senses. Michael Mitnick has written the most recent version of the screenplay. Nikki Silver is producing the project with Neil Koenigsberg (A Walk on the Moon) and Bridges. The project marks Beltrami’s first collaboration with Noyce. The director has previously worked together with such composers as James Horner (Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger), James Newton Howard (Salt), Howard Shore (Sliver) and Craig Armstrong (The Bone Collector).
Marcelo Zarvos Scoring ‘Brother’s Keeper’
Marcelo Zarvos is composing the music for the upcoming indie comedy drama Brother’s Keeper. The film is directed by Academy Award-nominated producer Ross Katz (Lost in Translation, In the Bedroom) and stars Nick Kroll, Rose Byrne, Bobby Cannavale, Joel McHale, Josh Charles and Caitlin Fitzgerald. The movie follows a young, narcissistic entrepreneur who leaves Manhattan to move in with his estranged, pregnant sister and his brother-in-law and his 3-year-old nephew, only to end up becoming their nanny. Jeff Cox (Blades of Glory) and Liz Flahive (Nurse Jackie) have written the screenplay played based on a story by Kroll, Cox and Flahive. Kroll is also producing the project with Sam Slater & Paul Bernon (Drinking Buddies), Marcus Cox & Karrie Cox and Jared Goldman. Mark & Jay Duplass (Cyrus, Jeff Who Lives at Home) serve as executive producers.
Inon Zur to Score ‘Reclaim’
Inon Zur has been tapped to score the upcoming thriller Reclaim. The film is directed by Alan White (Broken, Erskineville Kings) and stars John Cusack, Ryan Phillippe, Rachelle Lefevre, Jacki Weaver and Luis Guzman. The movie is inspired by true events and follows an American couple who head to Puerto Rico to finalize the adoption of their new daughter, a Haitian orphan, who mysteriously vanishes from their hotel room. Luke Davies has written the screenplay based on an earlier version by Carmine Gaeta. Fredrik Malmberg and Silvio Muraglia are producing the Paradox Entertainment production with Brian and Josh Etting (Relative Strangers).
Alexandre Desplat Takes Over Scoring Duties on ‘The Imitation Game’
Alexandre Desplat has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming drama The Imitation Game. The film is directed by Morten Tyldum (Headhunters) and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, Mark Strong, Matthew Goode and Charles Dance. The movie follows a British mathematician and cryptographer who helped crack the German enigma code during the final years of World War II and was later prosecuted by the British government in the early 1950s for being a homosexual. Graham Moore has written the script based on the book Alan Turing: The Enigma. Teddy Schwarzman (All Is Lost) is producing the project with Nora Grossman and Ido Ostrowsky.
Patrick Wolf to Score Noel Coward Biopic
Variety is reporting that British singer/songwriter Patrick Wolf is attached to score a currently untitled feature about the early life of Noel Coward. The film is directed by Joe Stephenson and stars Chris Colfer as the English playwright, composer, director, actor and singer who was knighted in 1969. Ian McKellen, Vanessa Redgrave and Jonathan Pryce are currently in talks to co-star in the movie. Martin Sherman (Mrs Henderson Presents, Bent) has written the screenplay. Stephenson is also producing the B Good Picture Company production with Colin Vaines (Coriolanus, Julia Valentine, Jane Wright, Enfys Dickinson and Dan Pickering. The project marks Wolf’s first scoring assignment.
Joel McNeely to Score Disney’s ‘Legend of the NeverBeast’
Joel McNeely is returning to score the next installment in DisneyToon Studios’ Tinker Bell series, Legend of the NeverBeast. The film is directed by Steve Loter (Kim Possible) and features the voices of Mae Whitman, Angela Bartys, Pamela Adlon, Lucy Liu, Megan Hilty, Raven-Symone and Lucy Hale. The movie follows the animal fairy Fawn who befriends a huge and mysterious creature known as the NeverBeast. McNeely has previously scored the first six movies of the Disney Fairies franchise, including the original Tinker Bell film, as well as Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure, Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue, Pixie Hollow Games, Secret of the Wings and this year’s The Pirate Fairy.
‘Addicted’ to Feature Music by Aaron Zigman
Aaron Zigman has composed the music for the upcoming drama Addicted. The film is directed by Bille Woodruff (Honey, Beauty Shop) and stars Sharon Leal, Boris Kodjoe, Tyson Beckford, Kat Graham and William Levy. The movie is based on the bestselling novel of the same title by Zane and follows a happily married woman with three kids who finds herself satisfying her addiction to sex by sleeping with other men. Christina Welsh and Bernie Barbarash have written the screenplay. Paul Hall (Higher Learning) is producing the project. Zigman has previously scored numerous features produced by Hall, including Pride, For Colored Girls, Good Deeds and Peeples.
James Newton Howard to Score Dan Gilroy’s ‘Nightcrawler’
James Newton Howard has signed on to score the upcoming indie thriller Nightcrawler. The film marks the directorial debut of screenwriter Dan Gilroy (Real Steel, Two for the Money) and stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Bill Paxton, Riz Ahmed and Kevin Rahm. The movie tells the story of a driven young man who discovers the nocturnal world of L.A. freelance crime journalism. Gilroy has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Jennifer Fox (We Need to Talk About Kevin, The Informant!), Michel Litvak & David Lancaster (Drive, Legion) for Bold Films and his brother brother, Tony. Howard has previously scored Tony Gilroy’s last three features, including Michael Clayton, Duplicity and The Bourne Legacy. Nightcrawler is currently in post-production. Open Road Films has picked up domestic distribution rights for the thriller.

Marco Beltrami has been hired to score the upcoming thriller The Coup. The film is directed by John Erick Dowdle (Devil, Quarantine) and stars Pierce Brosnan, Owen Wilson, Lake Bell and Sterling Jerins. The movie follows an American family who move to Southeast Asia and find themselves entangled in a violent coup in which merciless rebels attack the city. The director has also co-written the screenplay with his brother, Drew Dowdle, who is producing the project with Michel Litvak, David Lancaster & Gary Michael Walters (Drive, Legion, The Hole). The Coup is set to be released on March 6, 2015 by the Weinstein Company.
