Dave Stewart and Michael Bradford are writing original songs and music for the upcoming horror musical Zombie Broadway. The film based on Stewart’s own graphic novel of the same title is set in a Zombie-ridden, apocalyptic New York where the fate of the city lies in the hands of the only surviving musical theatre troop putting on the show of their lives. The movie is being described as Rocky Horror Picture Show meets Bullets Over Broadway. Cole Haddon (NBC’s Dracula) is writing the screenplay and Pam Williams & David Jacobson (Lee Daniels’ The Butler) are producing the project alongside Stewart. The former Eurythmics member has previously scored a number of film, including Robert Altman’s Cookie’s Fortune, Paul Verhoeven’s Showgirls and Ted Demme’s Beautiful Girls.

Jake Monaco to Score ‘Playing It Cool’
Jake Monaco has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming romantic comedy Playing It Cool. The film is directed by Justin Reardon and stars Chris Evans, Michelle Monaghan, Aubrey Plaza, Giovanni Ribisi, Topher Grace, Ioann Gruffud, Luke Wilson, Martin Starr Ashley Tisdale and Philip Baker Hall. The movie follows a man disillusioned by love who meets an engaged woman and feigns a platonic relationship in order to keep seeing her as he tries to conquer her heart. Chris Shafer and Paul Vicknair (Before We Go have written the Black List-honored screenplay. McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation) and Mary Viola are producing theVoltage Pictures production with Nicolas Chartier (The Hurt Locker) & Craig Flores (Charlie Countryman).
Garth Stevenson Scoring ‘Ten Thousand Saints’
Garth Stevenson is composing the score for the upcoming indie coming of age dramedy Ten Thousand Saints. The film is directed by Robert Pulcini & Shari Springer Berman (American Splendor, The Nanny Diaries, Girl Most Likely) and stars Asa Butterfield, Ethan Hawke, Hailee Steinfeld, Emile Hirsch, Emily Mortimer and Julianne Nicholson. The movie based on a novel by Eleanor Henderson is set in the New York City East Village Punk scene during the 1980s and follows a young man who is sent to live with his estranged father in Manhattan. Anne Carey (Adventureland, The American) and Amy Nauiokas are producing the project for Archer Gray Productions, alongside Trudie Styler (Moon, Filth) and Celine Rattray (Bernie, Black Nativity) for Maven Pictures, and Luca Borghese.
Joe Kraemer to Score ‘Mission: Impossible 5’
Director Christopher McQuarrie announced on Twitter that Joe Kraemer is set to score the upcoming action thriller sequel Mission: Impossible 5. The film stars Tom Cruise who returns as IMF Agent Ethan Hunt. Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames are also reprising their roles from the previous installment in the series. They are joined by Alec Baldwin and Rebecca Ferguson. Will Staples and Drew Pearce (Iron Man 3) have written the screenplay. Cruise is also producing the project with J.J. Abrams. Kraemer has previously scored McQuarrie’s previous two directorial efforts, The Way of the Gun and 2011’s Jack Reacher, which also starred Tom Cruise. The previous Mission: Impossible films featured music by Danny Elfman, Hans Zimmer and most recently, Michael Giacchino who scored the third and fourth parts in the series.
Alex Ebert to Score J.C. Chandor’s ‘A Most Violent Year’
Alex Ebert is reuniting with director J.C. Chandor to score the upcoming crime drama A Most Violent Year. The film stars Oscar Isaac, Jessica Chastain, Alessandro Nivola, David Oyelowo and Albert Brooks. The movie is set in New York City during the winter of 1981 and follows the lives of an immigrant family trying to expand their business and capitalize on opportunities amid violence, decay and corruption. Chandor (Margin Call) has also written the screenplay and is producing the project with Neal Dodson and Anna Gerb. Ebert who is best known as the lead vocalist of the band Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros has previously collaborated with Chandor on last year’s All Is Lost starting Robert Redford and went on to receive a Golden Globe for his score.
Stephen Endelman Scoring ‘How to Make Love Like an Englishman’
Stephen Endelman has recently scored the upcoming romantic comedy How to Make Love Like an Englishman. The film is directed by Tom Vaughan (What Happens in Vegas, Starter for 10, Extraordinary Measures) and stars Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek, Ben McKenzie, Jessica Alba, Lindsey Sporrer and Malcolm McDowell. The movie follows a University of Cambridge professor who finds a woman who forces him to reevaluate his life of hedonistic excess after he manages to get her graduate student stepsister pregnant. Matthew Newman has written the screenplay. Richard B. Lewis (Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, Backdraft, August Rush), Beau St. Clair (The Thomas Crown Affair, Laws of Attraction, November Man) and Kevin Frakes (Laggies) are producing the Palmstar Media Capital, Southpaw Entertainment, Irish DreamTime and Envision production.
Harry Gregson-Williams to Score Antoine Fuqua’s ‘Southpaw’
Harry Gregson-Williams revealed in a recent interview with Film Music Magazine that he is reuniting with director Antoine Fuqua on his next feature Southpaw. The film stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams, Naomie Harris, Forest Whitaker, Victor Ortiz, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Miguel Gomez. The movie follows a welterweight champion who rises in his profession while his personal life falls apart. Kurt Sutter (Sons of Anarchy) has written the screenplay. Alan Riche (Starsky & Hutch, Family Man, Deep Blue Sea) and Peter Riche are producing the project with Todd Black & Jason Blumenthal (The Pursuit of Happyness, The Weather Man, Knowing, The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3). Gregson-Williams has previously collaborated with Fuqua on 1997’s The Replacement Killers and most recently on The Equalizer starring Denzel Washington, which is set to be released later this month.
Nick Urata to Score ‘Paddington’
Nick Urata has been tapped to score the upcoming family comedy Paddington. The film is written and directed by Paul King (Come Fly With Me, Bunny and the Bull) and stars Hugh Bonneville, Sally Hawkins, Julie Walters, Nicole Kidman, Jim Broadbent and Peter Capaldi. Ben Whishaw provides the voice of Paddington. The movie is based on Michael Bond’s best-selling novels and tells the story of the comic misadventures of a young Peruvian bear who travels to the city in search of a home. David Heyman (Harry Potter series, Gravity, I Am Legend) is producing the Studiocanal production. Paddington is set to be released in the UK on November 28, 2014 and arrives in the U.S. on December 12, 2014.
Dominic Lewis to Score ‘Spooks: The Greater Good’
Hans-Zimmer.com is reporting that Dominic Lewis is composing the music for the upcoming British spy thriller Spooks: The Greater Good. The film is based on the BBC TV series Spooks (known in the US under the title MI-5) and stars Peter Firth who reprises his role as Harry Pearce. Kit Harrington and Jennifer Ehle are co-starring in the movie directed by Bharat Nalluri. Jonathan Brackley and Sam Vincent have written the screenplay and Jane Featherstone (Life on Mars, Broadchurch) & Stephen Garrett (Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day) are producing the project with Ollie Madden for Shine Pictures. The Spooks TV series featured music by such composers as Paul Leonard-Morgan (Limitless, Dredd) and Jennie Muskett (The Prince and Me).
Dickon Hinchliffe Scoring ‘Man Up’
Dickon Hinchliffe has recently composed the music for the upcoming indie romantic comedy Man Up. The film is directed by Ben Palmer (The Inbetweeners Movie) and stars Lake Bell, Simon Pegg, Olivia Williams, Rory Kinnear, Sharon Horgan, Harriet Walter, Ken Stott and Stephen Campbell Moore. The movie follows a single woman who is mistaken for a stranger’s blind date – leading to her finding the perfect boyfriend. Tess Morris has written the screenplay. Nira Park (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Scott Pilgrim vs the World) is producing the Big Talk Prods. and Studio Canal production with James Biddle (Cuban Fury, In Fear) and Rachael Prior.
