Hans Zimmer is set to score the upcoming animated feature The Little Prince (Le petit prince). The film is directed by Mark Osborne and features the voice talent of James Franco, Rachel McAdams, Jeff Bridges, Benicio Del Toro, Marion Cotillard, Albert Brooks, Mackenzie Foy and Paul Giamatti. The movie based on the novel of the same title by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry follows a pilot who crashes in the desert and meets a little boy from a distant planet who regales him with stories about his home and the inhabitants of nearby asteroids. Aton Soumache and Dimitri Rassam (Upside Down, Escobar: Paradise Lost) are producing the project for Onyx Films.

Haim Mazar to Score ‘Criminal’
Haim Mazar has signed on to score the upcoming action thriller Criminal. The film is directed by Ariel Vromen and stars Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, Tommy Lee Jones, Ryan Reynolds, Alice Eve and Gal Gadot. The movie revolves around a dangerous criminal who has the memories and skills of a dead CIA agent implanted into his brain in order to track down and stop an international terrorist. Douglas Cook & David Weisberg (The Rock, Double Jeopardy) have written the screenplay. Chris Bender (The Butterfly Effect, We’re the Millers), J.C. Spink (A History of Violence), Mark Gill (Olympus Has Fallen) and Matt O’Toole (Before I Go to Sleep) are producing the project.
Max Richter to Score ‘Into the Forest’
Max Richter has signed on to score the upcoming futuristic drama Into the Forest. The film is directed by Patricia Rozema (Mansfield Park, When Night Is Falling) and stars Ellen Page, Evan Rachel Wood, Callum Keith Rennie and Max Minghella. The movie based on the novel of the same title by Jean Hegland is set in the not-too-distant future and follows two sisters who must rely on one another as society crumbles around them and their forest home. Rozema has written the screenplay. Page is also producing the project with Niv Fichman (Enemy, The Red Violin, Blindness) and Aaron L. Gilbert (A Single Shot, Welcome to Me).
Lorne Balfe Scoring ‘Bone in the Throat’
Lorne Balfe is composing the score for the upcoming British indie thriller Bone in the Throat. The film marks the feature directorial debut of commercials director Graham Henman and stars Ed Westwick, John Hannah, Tom Wilkinson, Vanessa Kirby, Rupert Graves, Steven Mackintosh and Neil Maskell. The movie is based on the best-selling novel by Anthony Bourdain and follows a chef at the hottest restaurant in London’s East End who becomes embroiled in his uncle’s underground mob activity when he witnesses him commit a murder. Henman has also co-written the screenplay with Mark Townend.
Junkie XL to Score ‘Run All Night’
Junkie XL revealed on Twitter that he has taken over scoring duties on the upcoming thriller Run All Night. The movie is directed by Jaume Collet-Serra (Unknown, Non-Stop, Orphan) and stars Liam Neeson, Joel Kinnaman, Ed Harris, Genesis Rodriguez, Holt McCallany, Boyd Holbrook, Vincent D’Onofrio and Common. The film follows an aging hitman who is forced to take on his brutal former boss to protect his estranged son and his family. Brad Inglesby (Out of the Furnace) has written the script. Roy Lee (The Lego Movie, The Lake House) is producing the Vertigo Entertainment production with Brooklyn Weaver (Extant).
Thomas Newman to Score 24th James Bond Film ‘Spectre’
Albert R. Broccoli’s EON Productions, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios and Sony Pictures Entertainment announced today that Thomas Newman will return to score the 24th film in the James Bond series, Spectre. The composer will reteam with director Sam Mendes who previously helmed 2012’s Skyfall. They also collaborated on the features American Beauty, The Road to Perdition, Revolutionary Road and Jarhead. Spectre stars Daniel Craig in the title role, alongside Ben Whishaw as Q, Naomie Harris as Moneypenny and Ralph Fiennes as M. Rory Kinnear, Andrew Scott, David Bautista, Monica Bellucci, Léa Seydoux and Christoph Waltz are co-starring. The movie follows Bond as he uncovers a sinister organization after he receives a cryptic message from his past.
Mark Orton Scoring ‘People, Places, Things’
Mark Orton is composing the music for the upcoming indie comedy People, Places, Things. The film is written and directed by James C. Strouse and stars Jemaine Clement, Regina Hall, Stephanie Allynne and Jessica Williams. The movie follows a newly single, under-employed graphic novelist balancing parenting his young twin daughters and a classroom full students while exploring a new love and letting go of the woman who left him. Michael B. Clark (Safety Not Guaranteed) and Alex Turtletaub are producing the project for Beachside. Strouse’s previous two features were scored by Clint Eastwood (Grace is Gone) and Edward Shearmur (The Winning Season).
Mark Mothersbaugh to Score ‘Pitch Perfect 2’
Mark Mothersbaugh has signed on to score the upcoming musical comedy sequel Pitch Perfect 2. The film is directed by actress Elizabeth Banks who makes her feature directorial debut and stars Anna Kendrick, Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Rebel Wilson, Alexis Knapp, Adam DeVine and Hailee Steinfeld. The movie follows the Barden Bellas as they take to the world championships of a capella, where a U.S. team has never won before. Kay Cannon (New Cannon) who scripted the original has also written the screenplay for the sequel. Banks also appears in the movie and is producing the project with Paul Brooks (Life As We Know It, New in Town) for Gold Circle Films and Max Handelman (Surrogates) for Brownstone Productions.
Christophe Beck to Score ‘Terminator: Genisys’
Christophe Beck has been hired to score the upcoming sci-fi action thriller Terminator: Genisys. The film is directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World, Game of Thrones) and stars Arnold Schwarzenegger, Emilia Clarke, Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Matt Smith, Lee Byung-hun, Dayo Okeniyi, Courtney B. Vance, Sandrine Holt and J. K. Simmons. The movie is the first part of a planned trilogy. Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) & Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry, My Bloody Valentine) have written the screenplay. David Ellison & Dana Goldberg (World War Z, Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol, I Am Legend) are producing the Paramount Pictures and Skydance production.
Carlos José Alvarez to Score ‘Daughter of God’
Carlos José Alvarez has been tapped to score the upcoming dramatic thriller Daughter of God. The film is written and directed by Gee Malik Linton and stars Keanu Reeves, Mira Sorvino, Ana de Armas, Christopher McDonald, Big Daddy Kane, Michael Rispoli and Laura Gomez. The movie follows a police detective searching for the truth behind his partner’s death, while a Latina woman is witnessing a miracle. Reeves and Malik Linton are also producing the project with Robin Gurland (Grassroots, casting director of Star Wars: Episode I & II). Cassian Elwes (Lee Daniels’ The Butler) serves as an executive producer.
