Craig Armstrong to Score Disney’s ‘The One and Only Ivan’
Craig Armstrong (Moulin Rouge!, The Great Gatsby, The Incredible Hulk, Love Actually, Romeo + Juliet) has been tapped to score the upcoming live-action/animated hybrid feature The One and Only Ivan. The film is directed by Thea Sharrock and stars Ariana Greenblatt, Bryan Cranston, Ramon Rodriguez, Indira Varma and Eleanor Matsuura in the live-action roles. The project’s voice cast includes Angelina Jolie, Sam Rockwell, Brooklynn Prince, Danny DeVito and Helen Mirren. The movie is based on Katherine Applegate’s 2011 book of the same title and centers on a silverback gorilla who lives in a cage in a shopping mall.
Mychael Danna to Score Atom Egoyan’s ‘Guest of Honour’
Composer Mychael Danna is set to reteam with director Atom Egoyan on the upcoming psychological drama Guest of Honour. The film is written and directed by Egoyan and stars David Thewlis, Laysla De Oliveira, Luke Wilson, Rossif Sutherland and Alexandre Bourgeois. The movie centers on the relationship between a father and his 20-something year old daughter who wants to remain in jail for a sexual assault she knows she’s been wrongfully indicted for. Egoyan is also producing the project for Ego Film Arts, alongside Simone Urdl & Jennifer Weiss (Away from Her, Daydream Nation) for The Film Farm.

Jeff Toyne (Rogue, Dirty Girl, 9/11, You Me Her) has recently composed the music for the upcoming thriller Daughter of the Wolf. The film is directed by David Hackl (Saw V, Into the Grizzly Maze) and stars Richard Dreyfuss, Gina Carano, Brendan Fehr, Anton Gillis-Adelman and Sydelle Noel. The movie follows a woman who returns home from her tour in the Middle East to the news of her father’s passing. When word spreads about her large inheritance, her son is kidnapped and held for ransom by a local gang.

The movie marks Roberts’ second directorial effort and stars Sally Hawkins, Alice Lowe, David Thewlis, Billie Piper and Penelope Wilton. The film centers on a woman who, after being rejected by life, spirals into a chaotic, schizophrenic world, where love and normality collide. Adrian Bate (Keeping Faith) is producing the Cliff Edge Pictures production.

Tom Holkenborg (aka Junkie XL) (Mad Max: Fury Road, Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Black Mass, Divergent) confirmed in a new interview with Film Music Magazine that he is currently scoring the upcoming live-action/animated hybrid feature Sonic the Hedgehog. The film is directed by Jeff Fowler and stars Ben Schwartz, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Neal McDonough, Adam Pally and Jim Carrey. The movie is based on the Sega video game franchise and follows a small-town sheriff in the rural town of Green Hills who teams up with Sonic to help him escape from the government who is looking to capture him.

Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Verse: Into the Spider-Verse, Ocean’s 8, The Man from U.N.C.L.E.) is composing the original score for the upcoming romantic comedy Yesterday. The film is directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting) and stars Himesh Patel, Lily James, Kate McKinnon and Ed Sheeran. The movie follows a struggling singer whose dreams are fading who wakes to discover that The Beatles have never existed and finds himself with a very complicated problem. Richard Curtis (Love Actually, Notting Hill) wrote the screenplay.

The film is directed by Guan Hu (Mr. Six, Cow) and tells the story of a group of Chinese soldiers and draft dodgers in 1937 who put up a four-day defense of a Shanghai warehouse complex just as Japanese forces are overwhelming China. The movie is produced by Huayi Brothers Media.

The World War II-set movie centers on a private and reclusive writer who finds herself being put responsible for the care of a young man after the London Blitz. Guy Heeley (Locke, Serenity, The Escape) and Adrian Sturges (The Escapist, The Disappearance of Alice Creed) are producing the project.
